I need your opinions please

I am a 100% PvE player. I play solo as much as humanly possible. So being only solo I do run into issues with staying alive as honestly I'm not the best player. I was curious which of the two set ups would work better with both survivability and dishing out enough damage.

Magicka nightblade using restoration staff.
Skills would be Illustrious Healing, impale, ambush, funnel health, power extraction. (Later levels going to replace with dual wield and replace illustrious healing with inner light)

Or

Stamina dragon knight with 2h sword
Skills would be dragons blood, reverse slice, rally, critical rush. (Ideas for last skill would be great)

Any help would be wonderful!

    Oh man, you didn't even consider Sorc.

    Sorc Pets are actually good at one thing and that's soloing.

    Im in the same boat, not so much because I want to but because of my time. Anyway I have only soloed dungeons.

    Im currently working on my Endgame PvE Solo Sorc. So far good news, just waltzed through CoA normal, now im going to get specific gear, end goal being able to solo just about every dungeon on any difficulty.

    You should at least consider a sorc

    If you have issues staying alive, I think magicka NB is better as it's easier to kite at range. Honestly, I'd run inferno destro staff. When engaging mobs, crouch to stealth, charge up heavy attack and cast funnel health. They do a lot of damage together.

    Ambush and Power Extraction are the wrong morph for magicka NB. You want Lotus Fan and Sap Essence. Tbh, for solo, you don't need Lotus Fan, I'd just run Funnel Health, Sap Essence. Other slots are flex slots. A few nice skills:
    • Destructive Reach (from destro staff) is good to knock melee enemy back.
    • Inner Light if you have it unlock -- more magicka, crit => more damage
    • Merciless Resolve -- increase damage by 8%, when Assassin's Will proc, it becomes a high damage skill
    • Crippling Grasp -- great DOT, but more importantly, it gives you speed buff to kite better
    • Double Take -- major evasion, speed buff
    • Ult: Soul Tether - give you a lot of heal, but you have to be on melee range. Veil of Blades is good too, tho, for soloing, I'd go with Soul Tether

    If you have a second bar, I'd slot resto staff if you need more survivability, with Healing Ward and/or Blessing of Restoration. Usually Funnel Health and Sap Essence should be enough to heal you.

    Stack for as much magicka, spell damage, and spell crit.

    If you go with stamina DK, I'd slot Brawler (morph of first 2h skill). It's not an amazing damage skill, but the damage shield will improve your survivablity.

    Thank you for the opinions so far. I have considered sorceor but for the life of me I've never liked having a pet before in any mmo

    My main is a magicka sorcerer who never uses pets, and I've been solo-ing public dungeons/dark anchors/etc. without dying on him if that's what you're aiming for. Conjured Ward is basically my best friend against multiple enemies :).

    I have a destruction staff in my main slot and a restoration staff in my back bar. Sorcerers also have a nice CC ability called 'Encase' in Dark Magic to hold enemies in place if you're being hit by too many, there are ways around using pets.
