Magicka Imperial Templar

Just wondering if anyone has suggestions, I am mostly dps with my templar but I don't have the ideal race for a Magicka Templar. I seem to be having issues with maintaining magicka. I currently run Julianos with 3 piece torugs/swords and hat, resto on back bar. I do run the thief mundus stone with, typical small pieces divines large pieces infused. I don't want to sacrifice to much spell power but may have to, buffed I am at around 3500 spell power with all spell power glyphs and willpower jewelry. Any advice would be appreciated. I do run harness magicka and rune focus and currently have 415 champion points.

I was having resource issues on my magicka templar with a similar setup as you: julianos, torugs & willpower. I swapped out the willpower and one torugs for trinimac, added kena shoulders and my damage stayed mostly the same but sustain seems to be much better now.

Channeled Focus > New Osrinium drinks > Devouring Swarm (for magicka recovery) = barely have sustain issues.

If I am running low, quickly swap to resto bar and three - four heavy attacks later, I'm good to go.

What mundus stone are you using?

Still experimenting with spell damage / crit chance / crit damage. I'll probably stick with spell damage... there's some math floating around out there about when to use all divines gear and the crit damage mundus... but I'm more of a drink bourbon and play ESO kinda guy and tend to skip the hard-core min-maxing.

We should probably summon @Nifty2g, he knows a lot more about magicka templar than I do.

Hmm, I'd say keep channeled focus down all the time, but you're going to have a rough time with this as you are imperial, you're going to need to run a Magicka Regen Enchant on your rings, or 2 as you are missing out on max magic passives and magic regen passives from being an imperial.

Why not switch to being a Stamina based Templar to compliment your race pick

@Nifty2g I figured, I think I am still going to try and run stamplar but will stick with magicka for awhile.

I reckon try the stamplar out, you'll do a lot more damage than you will on your magic based imperial and vigor is really easy to get same with caltrops. I can't imagine an Imperial Magic Templar without proximity detonation will be doing the most damage.

p.s. to increase damage since you're running the thief mundus stone go 7/7 divines because % based increases are typically stronger than flat increases, that and infused doesn't give nearly enough magic to make up for the dps loss from crit loss, I think 7/7 infused gives about ~780 total magic on your gear

check this link out for some more information if you ever want to reroll and minmax a magicka based templar

Yeah, Nifty is right, when he says that a stamplar would be a better choice, when being imperial.

But personally I think, that if you don't want to min-max, you can still play a magicka templar as an imperial, if you prefer.
Your sustain issues come from a high crit chance and high spell damage. I have basically the same issues with my DK. When there is no elemental drain on bosses, I can cast for 30 seconds and then the fight is over for me.
As others have suggested, rune focus is almost a must-have for magicka templars. Swapping out a jewelry enchantment or set pieces to magicka recovery may also be helpful.
I am wondering, what kind of content do you do. In a group situation support from your local healer can help solve your issues. In PvP I think you definitely need more recovery.

All in all, there is always a trade-off between crit chance, spell damage and magicka recovery. You can't max all those stats at the same time.

I run 5 pce julianos and 4 pce Magnus dw appretinice stone max mag on armour and regen on Jewelry 10% extra regen with cp and 2 mages guild spells in my dos 1 on my resto. Which is inner light and structured entropy I have no issues with regen especially standing on the rune. Worst case I heavy attack with resto but don't run into that problem much.

Yeah be better for magic. Was gonna do a dark elf Templar for the extra flame damage but really cbf grinding again. Apparently they are gonna bring race changes later this year so I'll wait for that. The extra health and stam is good tho as well as red diamond when using puncturing sweep. The extra heal is good. Lack of magicka passive is a shame tho.
