It is what you want it to be. You dont have to take the healers AND the tanks job at the same time lol. I usually just tank on my imperial templar, but take over healing when needed. Just because, there's a lot of healers that needs dungeons in my guilds, I dont want be a meanie.
The problem is, you cant help much with dps, cc or debuffs on a templar tank. You cant block cast offensive templar skills. Try spamming Puncturing Strikes or Radiant Oppression on a hard-hitting boss or in the middle of a trash pack...see what happens
But you can always help a lot with healing and support while still tanking, you can heal maybe 60-70% of what a proper healer can do. That's why templar tanks, can do the healers job to, if the group is decent.
I think 2 pc Engine Guardian is the best gear investment for a templar tank in dungeons. The synergy with the set is really strong, compared to other classes using it. Rune Focus proc's the dwemer, almost for free since the skill is so cheap. You or any other templar can use Repentance on it when it dies, so free stamina every time. If you're tanking without another templar in the group, that set will replace your lack of stamina management.

I regularly heal/tank dailies, it certainly seems the way to go.
2 Bloodspawn (would love to replace with Engine Guardian but no shoulder, you can repentance the dead bots to sustain your own stamina).
3 Willpower. 1 x shield play 1 x Magicka cost reduction 1 x Magicka recovery
2 x Torugs Pact sword and shield
Any Magicka 5 piece. Seducer, Magnus etc. I use Kagrenacs Hope but Seducer would be better.
My stats are 36/22/16.5k but as an imperial those stats would be far better. At least 26k health would be ideal, you get that with your race.
Any more questions just ask.
Edit: I use 5 heavy 1 med 1 light. Infused on head, chest, legs and a mixture of reinforced and divines on rest. I believe 5 heavy 2 light is also very good, I just like extra stats from my undaunted passives.

I always thought that the tank abilities scaled from stamina?
I literally deconstructed the blood spawn set the other day damn! I have a couple guys that will farm with me for sure. I will use this build at v15 mats to start with see how it plans out as I dont want to rush into it again.
I have 260 champion points also what would you recommend I spend them on.

You only need stamina to block. Your magic is most important for Wards and healing everyone.
I put 75 points into block cost reduction for the passive, some into healing received, blessed or Thaumaturge etc. Balance out stuff like elemental defender, spell resist, increase heavy armour, damage reduced from dots. All the obvious really, you'll need 30 points in whatever it is to get spell crit as well.

I know I wouldn't be able to do mass damage but being under the assumption of you could only use stamina as a tank because to pve as a tank you would need to use the skills to taunt the bosses and mobs that's were I was confused.

I can craft 7 trait heavy and 6 on shield and metal weapons if that helps.
