Just started dipping my toes into joining groups. Mostly in the imperial sewers. But wanted to get into to some PVP maybe. Thing is I'd like to be helpful and not an easy kill. So any tips or advice would be nice.

Well, it's hard to help you with out knowing anything about your character.
Which class do you play? Have you decided if you want to play a healer, dd or a tanky character? What level are you?

Stay in range of the crown and your team mates. That's the main rule in both PvP and PvE for groups. Everything else is kinda class- and role based.

Sounds super easy, but amount of players that keeps running away from heals, tank, synergies and buffs and than dies to triple NB gank attack or a pack of trash mobs/boss, is pretty shocking :smirk:

I'm a ***! Should have included my info. VR16 Nightblade. I use a bow and dual wield. In PVE I'm all stamina. I don't really use magic abilities. Pretty open on what role I'd play. I do prefer stealthy attacks over charging in swords swinging! Just want to be helpful and supportive to the people I play with and have some basic idea of what to do. this is the first MMO I have ever played so I don't really know what the hell im doing. Been reading up on it. But it's always good to ask the advice of people playing the game.

Stay out of the deadly red circles and keep hitting your enemy.Do all you are able.Just try to be close to your team mates in level and gear as much as possible.

Take lots of siege weapons and keep wall repair kits - stone trebuchets for walls and doors, fire catapults to destroy enemy trebuchets, oil to pour on your enemy's heads etc

Res people who die if you can

Find a good group to run with and do what your team captain says

Try to keep up with your team mates and be aware of where they are at all times

If you see a big group of the enemy heading somewhere then announce it in zone chat

As an NB you might be quite good at ganking individual enemy players trying to reach a keep fight - a lot of people tend to gravitate to fights in a trickle and are vulnerable to behind-the-lines ganking

If you are on PC it's useful to have addons that can quickly replace your gear/skill bar - this will allow you to switch to having group skills when you are running about e.g. Rapid Manoeuvre etc and then back to combat skills when you arrive at a fight

At the moment I expect most organised groups insist on a build running proxy det (the aoe explode thingy that everyone cries about).

This is my first MMO too, and all I do is PvP.

Sounds like you are a team player, I would definitely look into joining a structured PvP guild that uses Teamspeak.

I personally go solo, and just go where the action is.

For starters google something like "ESO PvP objectives", get familiar with how PvP works.

Thanks everyone! Great tips here. I'm realizing very quickly that I need to work on my setup. I tend to die within 3-10 seconds taking on a single player. Any tips on surviving and wining against enemy players?

    DON'T be your groups healer.
    DON'T be your groups DPS.
    DON'T be your groups tank.
DO be your own player, and play as SOLO players, in a GROUPED fashion.

You would have to share your class, gear etc... for us to help. A lot of it is just practice. Each class plays differently though.

Edit: Read the thread again and saw you are a Stam nightblade. What I really recommend is to join a PvP guild and learn first hand from experienced players. Until then stay with the crown and always bring seige with you. A lot of battles can be completely turned by appropriate use of siege. Also about siege. Don't use someone elses siege unless they said they put it down for someone else use.

Your character should have a focus on two of the so called trinity.

This means your primary desire would be dps, healer or tank but with balance so that two of these are doable by just replacing weapons, skills and maybe armor

Other than that....just be friendly and courteous

I think either by weapon swap or a 3:2 ratio on each bar, you are valued unless you're doing speed runs

Your value is determined by what the group can accomplish rather than what you can put out
