Sorcerer question

I have a question for sorcerer and specifically for hardened ward and thundering presence. If i have both up and receive a damage, which of the 2 mitigate first?

Does the damage first get reduced by thundering presence and then absorbed by hardened ward or the opposite happens?

I am trying to figure if it is worth having both on my bars...

Thanks

Damage shields don't take resistance into account. It is still useful to use both because if your shield goes down your resistance will mitigate some of the dmg. A little off topic but damage shields aren't crit-able

The only mitigation applied to damage shields are your CP passives Hardy, Elemental Defender, Thick skinned.

Boundless storm is worth having up (in PvP) for the speed buff and the protection it offers you when someone inevitably breaks through your shields. It also makes your character animations very difficult to read by your opponent.

Thanks a lot both. Currently I am not involved into pvp, I think I shall keep only Hardened ward then and see how is going, since hardened ward also applies to my pets.

Hardened ward does not apply to your pets from my recollection. I think the other morph increases their damage? Either way, stay away from that morph because it's far worse than the 33% bonus you get from Hardened.

If you're doing PvE then there is no real need to slot Boundless Storm unless you enjoy the movement speed and have room to slot it.

Boundless storm is nice added damage for AOE in PVE if you have room for it on your bar. Not a lot of damage, but it is a passive damage that you do not have to spam.

Boundless Storm is nice for PvE Trash mobs. It should not do that much damage, but it seems to really add to the overall DPS. Plus the increased movement speed is really nice. If I had to pick only one, I use Hardened Ward.

However I have recently gone to a back bar on my sorcerer that has all my shields on it. So, Inner Light, Harness Magic, Boundless Storm, Immovable and Blur. I start the boss battle on that bar, pick 3 or so of the shields then swap to my DPS bar and go to town. Nothing says Invincible like a Sorcerer sporting multiple shields. Thing is, I have to finish the fight before my shields drop, I generally don't have enough magic to keep these all up or bring them all back up if needed. Still not sure if tactically this is a good way to do things, but it is fun putting up all the shields and wading in....
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Ahh you're right. I guess that's what comes of me never putting a skillpoint into pets. The spell has changed so much I forgot they added it to hardened as well.

If you stack Hardened Ward overtop of Harness Magicka, a physical hit on your hardened ward will proc the magicka return of Harness Magicka. Currently my Harness Magicks returns almost double the magicka that it costs to cast it, even when fighting purely physical mobs/players.
