Maelstrom Arena. Can you log in and out?

I am about to start the Maelstrom Arena, but I don't have time to do a 2h session. Is it possible for me to take brakes between stages? Can I even log out and log back in after few hours? Or is it like a dungeon that will eject me after some time?

Nope, it'll kick you out. Maybe if you're gone for 10 minutes you'll spawn back in like I did but not for too long

How long does it take to run it through the normal level? (I have a vet 16 magika sorc)

Progress is saved in normal but not in veteran mode.

Do you mean that I can log out and log back in after few hours without losing progress? Also, what's the difference between normal and veteran (other than difficulty?) Can you get master weapons in non-vet mode?

Yes, in normal mode you can leave the arena and continue hours or days later from where you left. In veteran mode your progress will reset after a few minutes when you leave (you can, however, continue that run on normal mode whenever you want). No, you can't get Maelstrom weapons on normal.

if you just want to get the skillpoint and want to have a look at the mechanics (don't do too much dps, or you'll miss them) you can do normal. but the difference in difficulty is huge, so i doubt you could rly train for vetmode in normal arena.

I noticed people finishing vet maelstrom with scores as low as 375. Are these people exploiting veteran mode by somehow doing the last stage only? I currently am stuck on vet stage 6 (Stamina DK) and my score is in the 100,000.00 +.

Not an exploit. Just a huge time penalty for needing 4+ hours.

It depends on you. Armor sets do drop, too. But I think they are capped to vr15 and blue quality. Normal mode is extremely easy. Even if you haven't done it before, you should be able to complete it within an hour or so. Just go and try it once

Normal mode can be done real quick, maybe an hour. I did it with my pvp build just for fun

So the gear is v15 except for the final boss chest which is 16 and blue.

On the completion in an hour, I think that will depend to how much time the player typically devotes to this game per day. Also how much they are able to process background events for significance while in combat. As an example, the exploding hoarvors uncovering safety stations for the spider swarms.

It depends on how you run it but less than 1 hour by far once you know exactly what to do.
You still may die tho

i would start off doing it on normal actually. just to get the feel of the mechanics. this will save you time when you actually go for vet
