It always makes me wonder... every time one such "remove all classes" topic comes up...

Do people -really- believe it is a viable business strategy to double the effort they had to make it this far by rewriting the game completely in the hopes of pleasing some mudcrabs?

Do people -really- think that "TES:Skyrim" is the only true way to do elder scrolls?

Do people -really- not realize what a mess it would be if the abilities we do have were available for all? How it would devolve into an "use super effective build or GTFO" quagmire?

Do people -really- think people would be satisfied with an elder scrolls game if there were no "magic" skills around and everyone just reduced to weapon and armor? (which by the way would much better have fit the theme of Age of Conan, and even they didn't dare do this...)

Personally I keep wondering if it wasn#t better to just remove a certain sort of people... but I guess it pays its monies, it gets to make its whinings, so I'll just not take them too seriously instead...
(On a completely unrelated matter... can we have out "lol" button back to laugh at them?;) )

Yeah, your troll thread was more convincing than AngryNord's as there were bald faced complaints about alleged QQ'ers over there instead of being masked behind sarcasm.

I know it hasn't been feasible since launch, but this game would be so much better if it didn't limit you to predefined classes. Contrary to all the Skyrim hate around here, other TES titles allowed you to spread your wings. If there were a "build your class" scheme to this game, the character development aspect of this game would be infinitely more satisfying.

To clarify (my ideal after observing the current ESO,) all abilities would be part of a skill line. All skill lines can be be learned concurrently (eventually) so you have access to practically every ability in the game, while out of combat. Choose 2-3 skill lines to elevate from minor to major (aka specialization) empowering the corresponding abilities. Each permutation of selected major skill lines would have a predetermined class title so peers would have an idea of your repertoire. Your specialized abilities would be more potent in practice, but you'd have access to other abilities if so desired.

MrDerrikk says this game is awesome because of it's variety of play styles, which is so sad. Well, I just saw a thread about a Frost DK. In combination with Draconic Power, a Fire skill line would make you a Fire DK, Frost for a Frost DK, and Shock for a Shock DK. Everyone here is accustomed to the current system so they only ever cry "nerf that" and "fix the lag," but I assure you it could have been better.

Regardless, it's much too late for any of that (although I can dream,) so don't bother telling me to QQ

problem is you have to easy acces to many skillpoints, which is good in the current setup up. but if you have acces to all the power difference will get immense not just about level (now with battle leveled this isn't a problem anymore) but sheer amount of skill points, which give more passives which stack which in their turn stack again with cp. so no i don't think this is a good idea. and you would see even less difference of type of players in cyro ;)

But... but... the VR part was the very best feature! I sooo want that! Okay, the dying part, not so much... but... gimme a blue and a red pill, lemme grind them up, mix the powder, press it into a purple pill and so take 'em both so I can be on VR online games knowing full when its all an illusion... ;)

But yeah, make an SAO game, sans VR and dying for those who want bladework only. And see how long "working to clear level endboss monster for 100 times" keeps people playing that game when you -don't- lock them into it...

How is it sad? As others will testify (this has been talked about before on here) people would simply cherry pick 1-2 builds that can do everything, with FOTM skill lines that you must choose or you'll be kicked for being a special snowflake. It's a similair argument for as to whether there would be more or less diversity if softcaps were brought back as opposed to the current meta of stacking one stat, but that;s for a different thread.

Alcast's Frost DK for Maelstrom (I assume that's what you're referring to) works as it gives an extra amount of much-needed CC to help control the movements of the mobs.

Yes, the entire game would have to be rebuilt. Therefore, it's no longer an option. But I thought a retro-optimistic post would help counteract the meaningless negative threads. My mistake. Apparently this community thrives on self harming antics as an ill-conceived defense against ZOS rage, but no one's perfect. We'll get there.

Yes, I suppose my comment was based on the fact that people choose FOTM builds rather than making a character their own so any way you look, clones. With that mindset, I really think everyone copy/pasting build would be just as happy with that "I win" button.

I think this is the Frost DK thread I saw.

I normally base my original build off someone elses before adapting it, but that's mainly because I haven't used that class before. It all comes down to the fact that in an MMO there is so much pressure to be "good enough to run with others", and a lot of people find it daunting to have to theory craft on their own, so they copy someone elses. However, when you open up all the class lines to everyone you are making it much easier to pick and choose some awesome skills for each build, and there will end up being even less builds used, as I said above. (I wouldn't personally have minded if they had done this to start, but as they went with this it would be an utter nightmare to do away with them).
Oh! I didn't see that one, I don't agree with it however, as I see Sorcs as the class that should have gotten Frost.

I do like the idea of doing it like Morrowind and Oblivion - where all the skill lines were available to everyone and 'classes' were just pre-set combinations.

Until I remember that it would be a nightmare for balance. It works in a single-player game where no one else is affected if you finish every fight in seconds without a scratch, or struggle with even the most basic enemies because of your absurd build, but sadly I don't think it could work in an MMO.

Would have been better, but it's probably too late for that.

Best thing they can do is implement spellcrafting and gradually phase classes out in importance.

And the "everyone will just use the best skills" doesn't really make sense to me, as most skills can already be used by anyone regardless of class. Individual skills have to be balanced with each other in any case.
