Trebuchet Targeting / Aiming

I have a question about targeting when using trebuchets. I have been told that when aiming your trebuchet, so long as the "wall health" meter appeared, you would bit hitting that wall. Someone else said it doesn't matter if you see the wall health meter or not...you're hitting where the aiming animation shows (ie, where the green line leads). Frequently, the health meter will not appear unless I seem to be aiming above the wall instead of into it.

So...if you aim at a wall, should you be adjusting your aim until you get the wall health meter, or should you just visually aim at a place on the wall and if you don't see the health meter just assume you're actually hitting it and doing damage?

Just visually aim the reticle at the wall or even the stairs if you can't reach the wall.
Any damage tracking addon is handy when you're not too sure if you're hitting it or not.

Also, and this is a biggy, never hit the postern doors. Only the front doors take damage.

Download a combat cloud add on and it'll tell if you're doing damage. If you're on console, PVP Gods bless your kind soul.

Just hit the walls. If it has a postern door, do not hit it. Also, do not hit the part that's sometimes on top of it (outer walls), as this has a separate health pool and does not break the wall.

If you hit the wall (not the door) you do dmg to it.

For inner breaches you can also hit the stairs and do dmg to the wall.

As @Turtl3Lov3 suggests, you can see when you do dmg with an add-on like FTC, AUI, Combat Cloud etc.

Yes, I'm on PS4, so there are no damage cloud add-ons I can download.

The "aim-until-you-see-health-meter" thing made sense to me, since I can't launch certain aimed attacks on NPCs or other players unless I have their health meter in focus, but I got upbraided last night for aiming based on appearance of health-meter instead of just aiming the green line at the wall.

Aiming and firing without being able to tell whether your hit did damage makes no sense to me. But if that's the way it works, I guess I'll just aim the green line now, ignore whether or not I see a health meter, and hope there's actual damage being done.

Doesn't give me the warm fuzzies though, I have to say.

I always thought it was so counter intuitive to hit the wall around the door but not the door itself when sieging. This was one of the first things I had to have explained to me when I joined Cyrodiil and it still makes zero sense to me.

Then there is the whole Postern House garbage and breaking the door but not the wall. I haven't seen that happen in over a year I think so what is the point of it even being a thing?

I was told not to aim at the doors, and I don't...except main doors when we're battering it with ram, etc.,

But the health meter/ no health meter thing seems completely counter-intuitive. If a target has focus, you should see its health meter so you can tell if your attack is being effective or not.

There is a spread RNG when firing siege which increases with projectile travel distance, this I believe is being removed in a future patch (March?).

Id love to see a way you could break just the door, but then its like a super choke. Idk, would make keep takes to fast, but would still be fun.

That and the tounges of the keeps. So many opportunities
