unmarked locations

I love it when I stumble across a shack or building that has no marker on the map. It makes me wonder what else is out there. So I'd like to request more hidden caves, huts etc. All without markers, so we can feel like we've discovered something new and secret. Maybe a named NPC nearby has a story or the location itself invites us to ask questions. The remains of a troll and a wood elf, perhaps? Did they live peacefully together? These are the little things I'd like to see more of

I like it when I come across a skeleton (or more than one) that seems to tell a story. Like that one sitting peacefully on Bleakrock gazing out at Companions Point.

Fyi I had heard of such places, some of them have a merchant, some of the mechants have items that if you purchase it, it'll start a quest...

There's a bear in a cave near a small bridge between Castle Roebeck and Fort Alessia. One day riding with a group someone said, "Heh! It's Bob the Bear!" The bear really has no name, it's just like any other bear in the game but this person had invented a back story for that darn bear. Now, every time I ride past I make sure I say "Hi!" to Bob.

Im always happy when i find a chest behind a waterfall. Sadly ive noticed a distinct lack of caves behind waterfalls. Not for lack of effort to find them...

I do that too. My success rate in ESO is way lower than in Skyrim...

Its the closest thing we have to underwater exploration as well...

It would be awesome to be able to swim down into some hidden cave or explore a sunken ship.

I like campsites that are just out in the wilderness. I like the one that is a spawn point for some senche. What happened there? Was it abandoned or were the inhabitants killed? Or my favorite speculation, are they senche khajiit and this is their camp...

I like the cliffs in the high elf area. It looks like you can jump on the neighboring cliffs that would be unapproachable from the ground.

Wrothgar has at least one such cave behind a waterfall, and maybe two (I've found only the one, but a guild mate claims there's a second cave behind a waterfall in one of the Wrothgar delves).

Wrothgar has at least one such cave behind a waterfall, and maybe two (I've found only the one, but a guild mate claims there's a second cave behind a waterfall in one of the Wrothgar delves).

Yea, found those. I like to think they are there because of my feedback on the issue...

I wasnt saying they werent there, just there is a lack of them... They do have some fun ones though, like shadas tear being at the end of a series of waterfalls.

One of my favorite unmarked locations is the house with the lich/skeleton NPC inside that has absolutely no backstory to my knowledge. Makes me wonder why he's there and why is he not hostile. I wanna say he's between Arrius and BRK in the wilderness there, but I forget exactly.

Found that one too. And the skeleton is the wife, if you talk with the (still living) husband outside, you can piece the story together with some imagination...

But there are a couple locations outside cyrodil that make me feel like there ought to be a quest that just was forgotten to put into the game. The abandoned village in Shadowfen. Sheogoraths shrine in Stormhaven. The fishermans hut with the wispmother nearby in Grahtwood, and the minedoor a bit west of it. The homesteads in Deshaan, Grahtwood and Alik'r. The palisade in Stormhaven. The unusable dwemer door near the south-westernmost skyshard in Eastmarch. The lone hut with the daedric ritual in Malabel Tor. Stuff like that...

The Ayleid ruin doors in Skywatch
I'm sure I noticed them when I was in those zones, but you'll have to remind me where the abandoned village in Shadowfen and Sheogorath's shrine in Stormhaven actually are. There's a tiny bit of backstory about the palisade, which you can find at the nearby crafting site: it was the Hammerdeath Arena, and was closed due to the war. An Old Handbill gives details on some of the champions.

Of course, there's the possibility that some of those unused, unmarked, inaccessible locations are going to be Dark Brotherhood sanctuaries that will become accessible for those who get the Dark Brotherhood DLC... Or areas that Thieves Guild quests send you to... I hope so anyway.

That Ayleid door I always wondered about too. But since there is an ayleid ruin nearby under investigation from the mages guild (and questy with ghosts and a rouge mage to stop, Ezduiin) I always thought it might be come backdoor to that ruin...

Shadowfen village is Hei-Halai in the NW corner, Sheogoraths shrine is the hut between Firebrand Keep and the Pariah Abbey. Oh, and the Grahtwood fisherman hut is at the small lake west of the Reliquary of Stars...

And yeah, I dimly remember finding that handbill... still felt like there -ought- to have been a quest with the whole place...

I wish that it was more important for us to read the lorebooks. Whenever there is a lorebook involved quest you don't even have to read the book, it just starts. I kinda wish those were more hidden. Read the lore, find out about a hidden cave and treasure, go find it. No crutches.

I think you can hide the quest markers, but I don't think the clues we're given in the dialogues are detailed enough for you to do that. It would be cool if you could get clues from dialogue and lorebooks and then be able to ask ANY NPC questions about the quest you're on. For example, head into town, talk to an NPC and be able to type - have you heard anything about a cave nearby? Are there any rumors about a sword hidden nearby? Etc. The NPC could respond based on the key words you're asking.

Nah, your not alone. Sometimes those skeletons are just funny. I mean take this poor slob for example. This is hilarious to me because knowing my luck that would totally happen to me.
