They said that text chat will not be added to consoles.
A stylist should be added for all platforms.
I don't think addon support is going to be added to consoles, but they will (slowly) add essential addon functionality to the base game: They already added loot notifications and in the next patch they will add combat text.

Now, one important thing: PC players can play with a gamepad and with the console UI, while laying on the sofa or whatever you like.

It was stated a long time ago and ZOS has never addressed it again since then. Basically I think it boils down to the fact that text chat would have to become an underlying part of the entire console version, which would mean completely redoing the console version to add it. I honestly believe that the reason they gave back then, "console players prefer voice", was a lame excuse, I think the REAL reason was that because of the additional year needed to complete the console version, adding text chat was going to be too complicated so they decided to skip it entirely just so they could get the console version out and start earning revenue... as that additional year of development pushed ZOS way over budget.

It is like the former CEO of Spirit airlines removing the ability for airline seats to recline but then explaining it as, "the seats come pre-reclined." I think the fact that we've never heard another word from ZOS regarding text chat on consoles says it all... given the number of threads asking for it... if they were going to implement it or even consider it, they would have said so. But not a word since the original (months ago) rational for not including it.

I did search for console text chat. It was all player posts. I apologize for not wording my search exactly as you did. Thank you though. I truly do appreciate that link
