What if stealth was removed from PvP?

I'm not asking for it or whining, I actually like a stealth mechanic. HOWEVER...

How would pvp be without stealth?

Consider IC sewers, no more hiding in the corner waiting to gank the player that's got 5 mobs on them. No more team of gankers waiting for players to come through choke points. Just a straight up, 'here I am, come get some' style of pvp.

Consider Cyrodiil. In open field battle, stealth is purely either a) strategic positioning strategy or b) plain coward, escape mechanic or c) unskilled player who needs the jump on someone to win a fight

If your main class is a Nightblade...just sit back and enjoy the discussion, we know your answer. :)

Well, it would partially take out the advantage of having the element of surprise on an enemy group, which is often used by smaller groups against bigger ones.

    So, it would suck.

How about you learn to play with stealth? M'kay?

There are tons of ways to mitigate stealth: potions, spells, armor sets, and of course -- grouping. Removing it from PvP would require a massive rebalancing act and frankly sounds more like you're whining about getting ganked in the sewers and losing some TVS.

PvP without stealth could result in a mature, serious game.
A mature game where real battle tactics would matter.
Therefore, it will never happen. People want easy kills.

I don't like all the sneaking and stealth required in PVP play and I don't go there much.......not my thing. That said......I understand it, it is a part of "real" war, and I would not want to see it removed.

And replace nightblade invis with speed. I've dreamed of this many times. A
Pvp where we can actually see the other player would be so nice.

The game's central concept of "PvP in PvP areas and be safe in safe areas" needs to stay the way it is.

Or it could remove a very situational but very useful set of tactics from our toolbox and turn Cyrodiil into an even more zergy lag-fest.

Line of sight would still be a thing. You ever watch a group gather to launch a surprise attack. Even in stealth they tend to huddle and hug the walls.

I absolutely abhor PVP, would rather watch reruns of reality TV then play IC or Cyrodil.

All that aside stealth should be left in, it's actually the only useful defense to 24 man zergs

To entertain the OP's question, if they removed stealth from the game they would also have to completely rework the Nightblade class. I doubt that's possible for ZOS so kinda moot really.

Partially, if you focus on only one skill tree in the NB class and roll a SpamBush build.

Oh, btw....I have a fully geared VR16 NB with TH, 3700 WD and poison injection Bow build. Also have a Magicka Shield Sorc build and a Stam Templar build....all VR16 and geared. So, I have no bias or complaint....just what if...

I would love it if stealth was disabled in one IC campaigns(the other 5 ones would stay NB heaven so no worries).

Also think that one campaign would be the most popular one. Just normal PvP in there, no free kills ganking with x3 dmg bonus on some dude fighting NPC's.

But removing stealth completely from PvP sounds really bad. I mean everyone kinda needs it in Cyrodiil. Especially when roaming, while not in a raid.

I assume you mean stealth as a whole, including cloak? If its just stealth but NB could still cloak, I imagine there would be an even bigger rise of NB players, and cyrodiil would constantly look empty even tho you had position 58 in queue to get in...

If you mean all stealth: I don't like being ganked anymore than the next guy, but this would seriously cripple PVP. I'm a sorc, and being able to hide while 8-10 people ride past me can be crucial. Scouts need to be able to hide, Nightblades as a whole NEED stealth as a defensive mechanic, not just as a ganking one.

I wish they would take things a step further and have a symbol next to your name to indicate classes so while in stealth trying to get the jump on another group we can all pre-target the healer.

That was my first thought, too.

It would severely cripple small groups, and nobody likes a zergfest (well... unless people running with the zerg I guess?).
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

If stealth was removed from PvP, there would be a lot more low level players not afraid to fight in Cyrodil or non nightblade players to run in smaller groups or solo. And a more balanced class choice; since there would be fewer night blades. ZOS ruined PvP for all other classes or builds other than Night blades. And are further encouraging ganking with the AP diminishing returns for larger groups to help protect against stealthed night blade gankers in the future PvP update.

It would mean that lone players or small groups would be completely out of the question, since you'd get zerg balled immediately upon encountering a larger group. Everyone would stick to large groups, the village quests in cyrodiil would become very difficult to do, and NBs would be pretty useless. Tanks and sorcerers would be the only things worth playing.

That doesn't matter. They gank you anyway even when you go to cyrodil simple to finish a fishing achievement. Next thing you know your standing by the only ocean spot minding your own business, the next your flying into the water from a greatsword uppercut to the back. You cant watch your back 100% of the time, I tried, you get dizzy...

I disagree, many people stick in large groups for the reason of stealth and Nightblade gank squads. As a healer, I would be more persuaded to run solo if I knew there wasn't a group of Nightblades waiting to ambush me stealthed right outside my keep.

I respect players with the Master Angler title moreso than any other in the game.
