Nightblade: stamina or magika?

I'd like to make a nightblade for solo play. I don't mind for survivability, just the ability to jump in, nuke and stealth out. But I am really undecided on the build. I have a vet16 magika sorcerer and wanted to try something new. So far, the most appealing option, is stamina bow and dual wield. I could level up 2h for an extra option but I don't want to end up spamming WB like many would. Any thoughts?

Well, 2h is quite useful because you get major brutality plus a decent HoT with a burstheal. That's why most stam builds run 2h at least on the offbar as a buff bar. And just because you have it equipped you don't have to use wrecking blow. NB have the luxury of having their own spammable, very strong stam morph. I'd recommend 2h + Bow, it's easier especially if you're new to the class. Otherwise your heal will be limited to Vigor.

With dual wield I get steel tornado (the best aoe imo) but also major damage bonus with 2 swords plus all sorts of bleeds etc. I guess I could level both up and then see which works best. However, do u think stamina is better than magika for high damage burst? I'm thinking that magika nightblade can stay cloaked for far longer but they are quite squishy with just light armor and I get the feeling they could not produce high damage bursts as sorcs would...

Stamina if you want the second highest dps in-game.

Magicka if you wanna be the guy everyone hates with decent DPS.

Dem 20 cloaks with stamina just there for dodge rolling lock on skills opposed to 3 is what it comes down to if you don't take DPS into account.

Dual wield is nice imo.

Ha! Kind of funny because I think my Magicka Nightblade does a LOT better than my Magicka Sorc, in fact, I've been able to tackle more things solo with my NB than my Sorc... and I'm talking solo PvE. With Magicka NB, running a siphon loadout, between Swallow Soul and Sap Essence, my health rarely ever drops. While Sorc has the benefit of hardened ward, heals are relegated to Critical Surge- relying solely on critical strikes for healing... with NB, Sap Essence hits like a truck and heals more efficiently. I also think my Magicka NB is a lot more fun to play, as I can melee, range, and instant stealth. Oh, and obviously with Swallow Soul and Sap Essence, I'm definitely FAR from being squishy with full set of light armor.

Dps wise magika sorc is unbeatable. The only thing I really envy about nightblades is the ability to cloak. Sometimes, while soloing pvp, I struggle to get away when the situation gets too hot. I'm going to try vanish potions but those u can only pop one every 40sec and once ure pulled out of it that's it.

I agree, but can also become extremely boring quite quickly because of the lack of variety. Sorc pretty much is relegated to using the same abilities over and over... whereas with my Magicka Nightblade, I can engage in combat numerous ways using the same exact loadout. If I want to range, use invisibility and melee, use gap closer attacks then stealth to range, etc. I'm just having a lot more fun with my NB, and sure combat sometimes take me longer while soloing Group Bosses, but again, it's a lot more fun.

Magicka NBs are a lot of fun to play but its harder to get the high burst that stam NBs produce..

Once magicka NBs unlock Magicka Detonation they get a lot stronger, before that the burst dmg isnt that great.

The benefit of magicka NB is that you can do all 3 roles pretty well in PVE, just by switching your gear.


For PVE I would advise going magicka NB.

For PVP I would advise going stamina NB.

I have both of them and this is my thoughts

Stamina NB - High burst Damage ( better kill him on that burst)
- Low Utility
- In my Opinion DW/Bow is the best convo
Magika NB - HIgh Sustain DPS
-High Utility
- Fast get away
- Excellent range damage

Would you go resto destro or DW? Maybe destro until magika det is unlocked?

i play DW/ resto in my magika but if i go sap tank them Shield and Sword / destro . It all depend what you want to do.
