Tried game again same old problem. Unable to play. Wont go to character select.

I dont understand how this buggy game is still here. I cant even login havent been able to for quite some time. I login with my username and password it accepts then it sits at an unending loading screen. I never get to character select. Ive tried everythig including complete reinstall same thing everytime. If I login and out about 20 or 30 times maybe sometimes it gets to character select but thats it. I select character and another unending loading screen.

Maybe you shouldnt run it on your Amiga 500.

Oh and anytime I change anything as far as graphics it also goes to a neverending load screen. Been like that since the first beta I was in. How is it this stuff is never fixed?

Wait maybe i actually can help you. :-)

you need to go into you usersettings.txt and change the directx part from

SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D9"

to

SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D11"

i had the the same problems until i changed this you cant go higher then directx11.

That could be a clue. Try to figure out what those computers have in common. Could be a piece of software, like antivirus or a firewall etc.

I know this is gonna sound dumb, but how long did you try waiting on those loading screens? Any time I change graphic settings that require reloading ui it also causes super long loadscreens for me, however they do end eventually; sometimes taken me as long as ~20 minutes though I think. I also only get that issue the first time I log in with new settings/on new computer, once I manage to log in it's fine next time.

As what the above poster stated, you may not be giving it enough time to get to the character load screen. After every update, they do something in the settings where it can take a few minutes after starting the game to actually get to the character select. After it does this for the first time, then the wait is not nearly as long, just a few seconds. It's been like this as long as I remember

If people on here are playing it on far cheaper machines, the problem is likely on your end. You could have the computer of the gods with everything absolutely the best but if it is not configured, etc right it is useless.

It has to be your connection. I have a beast of a machine and I don't have any problems with the game at all. I am on cable modem.

First time playing, and first time after any major update the loading screen takes forever and a day. I will get kicked once as a time out after many minutes, then try again and it will be a long time but eventually get to characters... Any time logging in after that will be fine.

Likely to be connection related as others have said, I've seen the same situation with multiple people where trying another connection, such as mobile phone hotspot, has allowed them to connect and play.

Hmm so solutions are wait over 20 minutes for a load screen or it must be my connection. SWTOR, LOTRO and many other online games/mmos work fine. Only ESO has these problems of having to wait 20-30 minutes just to get to character select. Sorry but I uninstalled it. Maybe one day they will hand the game to competent people and it will be playable again. Waiting 20 minutes for a load screen is simply insane. The game isnt that good.

damn my ps4 loads 99% faster than your pc. It only takes like 6 seconds to load my characters.

As others noted... if YOU are having these problems while the rest of us are not, then clearly it is not on the gaming end. It also appears that you have zero patience and aren't willing to accept the possibility that the problem is on your end. "These other games work, therefore it must be the game" approach doesn't work because every game is different, every computer is different, and therefore one must patiently work through trying different settings to get things working. Could be a driver issue, could be a memory issue (I experienced that one myself), could be any number of things on your end that is causing the problem.

I agree its not on the game/server end. Ive had very few problems with loading screens in this game and those were before the patch that fixed it. It might be your routing to the ESO servers or something else.

Also LOTRO and SWTOR are older games and might not be as graphically intensive as this one.

It doesnt matter how much you spent on your computer, it matters how old it is.
I built my first computer back in 2005 and spent around $3500 on it. Im pretty sure that machine would have a problem running this game.

I have issues right now too. There's a big topic about it going on.
No need to hate. I played so many MMO's and these problems happened from time to time in all of them.

Just in other MMO's they gave away like +10% xp 1 day for servers being unavailable or some other virtual bonuses. No idea if in ESO they do that.

If you are unwilling to consider that the issue is on your end, it is unlikely you will ever play...

If you do, and offer some info on things (ports, configs, etc) that you have done, people here could help you. From other games I have played, hangs on log in, character select or load is often a port setting or net config issue.

Hmm,..isnt buggy and laggy for my PC,..and I only paid $1,300.00 and some change for it. Plays just fine for me.

If your insinuating that its ESO fault and not your own, then how come many many many other people can play it just fine and you cannot?

Fix your computers, and ESO will work just fine.

Fix your computers, and ESO will work just fine.

It is ESO. Search for loading screen problems in the forums. You will literally find 100s of posts about it. But hey its not affecting a couple people in this thread so obviously its not a problem. lol

The first time you try and log in after an update or install it will take a very long time.
20 mins seems a bit long if that's actual time but let's wait and keep moving your mouse every minute.

If it still fails, maybe it's time to uninstall and redownload fresh

I have an older gaming republic laptop with a very fast connection and I don't wait longer than 10 mins unless on PTS when there are issues.

Also...are you on EU server. If yes, try NA instead

Its not the first time. As you can see by my name I had been playing this since before it was released. The problem is with the client not with anything on my end.

This may not be helpful but my load screens got reduced significantly by uninstalling eso, wiping any trace off my comp then do a reinstall. This was before they rolled out their 'fix'. I know it isn't ideal but it helped on my end.

And I mean any trace, hunting down beta folders, everything eso related removed then reinstall.

Although chances are you've already tried this and its all moot. Hope it works out though.
