Thinking of quitting.

I keep getting one shotted in pvp. Are new players at a disadvantage? Cant compete with players that are fully geared and maxed out in champion points. I just hit vr1 few days ago but don't know where to spend champion points or what gear I should get. And going into pvp getting one shotted is a moral killer.

Well i would recommend checking out some guides and build videos. Also joining guilds with experienced players can help you learn faster. Running with groups at lower levels will help you survive and learn how to pvp. If you play on xbox one NA you can add me (gamertag is the same as on here) and i can help you. Pvp can be frustrating at times but keep at it and it will be more fun. I hope you reconsider quitting, have a good day!

I'm not understanding how you think it will change? As I understand it gear will be CP dependent rather than VR dependent so a VR16 will still have better gear than a VR1 after the conversion to CP. Though there is the CP catch up mechanic a VR1 will still have far less CP until they catch up.

umm, yeah he will. he'll still have to gear up he'll still have to grind CP. nothing is going to change if/when vet ranks are removed. only thing the removal of vet ranks would accomplish is making it quicker to level an alt.

anyways. tell us what you're trying to do with your character. Stamina, Magicka, class etc and we can probably give you advice on where to put your CP and gear.

    Why would it be better?

There will still be CP differences. There will still be gear tiers. Will they get rid of the extra 15 attribute points from v2-v16?

Seems to me that it will be worse when they get rid of VR. Why? Because people with high CP can put max level gear on alts the second they hit level 50, increasing the percentage of players that will overpower the first time level 50 player.

The one benefit is that with the CP catch up mechanism, it will likely be a lot quicker to reach the top gear tier with CP than it is to reach v16.

Are you on PC, PS or Xbox? I'm guessing your Ebonheart Pact with that dragon head. And yes would help you some...those people killing you are probably geared in at least two sets of gear giving them bonuses you don't have.

Gear helps a lot. Sets give gear stat bonuses. Improving gear does the same. Getting one shot is all math. Change the numbers, and you can graduate to being two-shotted instead.

    @Gothlander

Not gonna lie, those are bad stats... painfully bad.

You really aren't ready for veteran PvP. At the very least you should wait until you reach VR16 and got appropriate crafted sets at Epic quality, which is relatively easy to obtain. You also need to reach at least 90 CP so you can get the 12% crit chance passive, which makes a big difference to dps.

It might seem daunting to you now, but it's not THAT much effort to reach what I described. And really, this is an MMO, until you reach VR16 and 90CP, you're should think of it as a long tutorial. If you absolutely hate PvE, you can always reroll a new character and play non-vet PvP (although CP will still give old players an edge) and wait for the non-CP campaign in the next patch (but still reach VR16 first).

Google Tamriel Foundry, lots of decent builds on there. Also check out Deltia on Youtube, both are great sources of basic information. Try to understand the game mechanics and why people use the skills they use and the weapons they use.

Yeah I been checking out Deltia on Youtube. So I am not going to be competitive until I reach vr16? That sucks. So much more to grind. It probably going to take me like 2 months to hit vr16. I am a casual player but that doesn't mean I want to suck at pvp. I want to be good at it.

It's tough being a magic based Templer, most people go for stamina Templer. But if you want to play a magic Templer, there are a few sets that can help a lot. First get the 2 rings and necklace of Willpower set, that will help with hp and magic stats. Then you get 5 piece Law of Julianous set in Worthgar, and mix in 3 to 4 pieces of either Seducer, Magus's Gift, or Twilight's Embrace set. If you can't get the Julianous set because you can't get to Wrothgar, then a 5 piece / 3 piece mix of the other sets will work. If you're not a crafter, you'll need someone to make them for you.

People complain about being killed by lower VR players in PVP because of battle leveling, I think you just maybe need better gear and possibly to look at your build. I'm going to send you a mail in game and try to friend you so we can talk ok, even though I mainly play AD I can help you with new gear.

I started to PVP around level 22, and I'm Vet 7 now (Most of that leveling was done in PVP) I'm far from being "pro" or anything, but I know better then anyone, it just takes time. Look online for character builds, and make small tweeks to accommodate your play style. Try to run with groups, or find a n active guild. If you need practice, (and if you have the IC DLC) jump into the arena, there never seems to be a shortage of enemies there to practice on. It makes it easier since if you die there's no traveling back to the action, you're just right back into it. I dunno what gear you run but the phoenix armor from that same IC DLC helped me out tremendously, free instant revive every 10 minutes can mean all the difference. As for your champion points, don't stress over theres you can reset them, so just put there where you think you need them (or as mentioned go by one of the guides) You'll get there!

You are going to be a bit behind in PvP because of champion points, but you can still compete. If you were on PC/EU I would craft you some set gear for free. One thing you have to get used to in PvP though is some of these guys will kick your ass just because they are amazing players. Hopefully someone on NA will help you get geared up it will help a lot.

I'll tell you right now i'm not very knowledgeable about the templar class. i have however been thinking of making one and this is what i was planning on.

for weapons: sword and shield + Restoration staff. you can put an additional armor enchantment on your shield (helath, magicka or stamina depending on what you feel you are lacking).

the skills that will increase your survivability in pvp: 1. Harness magicka (light armor) 2. healing ward (restoration staff) 3. Defensive posture (sword and shield)

    As for CP:
    warrior points:
Bastion (boost your wards, harness magicka and Healing ward)
    Quick Recovery (boost healing received)
    Elemental Defender
    Hardy

    Mage:
    Thaumaturge (offensive capabilities)
    Blessed (increase healing done)
Elf born (increase damage done by spell crits, heals can also crit)
spell erosion (only one point here)

    Shadow:
    Arcanist (Magicka regeneration)
    Magician (reduce spell cost)
Tumbling (reduce cost of Dodge roll and break free)

I started PvPing at a low level myself in 1.6. try and find a group to play with, learn as you go and try and have fun. As you gain more CP it will become progressively easier and more enjoyable and eventually you can play solo if you so wish.

He will still experience this exact same thing. With everything he said in his post he basically said hes some l2p problems. When he visits links from other people he will get some really good tips on gear and skills.

Vet rank removal wont help with skill, bars, itemization or class knowledge for pvp. Right now in pvp he is scaled to v15 keep in mind.

I cannot view that link. So I can only give you generalizations. However I can tell you the biggest mistaken I'll found most PVPers make is not having enough health. Making sure that you using food that increases you health and main resource if your having trouble dropping too quickly in PVP.

Next gear is critically important. Thinking that battle leveling only will suffice is going to lead to disappointment. You'll want to update your gear to sets with bonuses that support your playstyle and build choice (Stamina or Magicka).

As others said, you have extremely low stats. First of all, you need some blue magicka+health food (stamina+health if youre going to use stamina build), it will boost your survivability significantly. Secondly, you need some sets. A lot of good endgame sets are crafted so you can obtain them at any level. If you dont have enough skills/traits for crafting, you can find a crafter in your guild or zone chat, or maybe someone in this thread can help you. Also you might want to change your Mundus stone as its not the best one for dd character. Having a crafted blue/purple set, a suitable mundus stone and food buff will change a lot. Check http://tamrielfoundry.com/forum/classes/templar-class/ for builds and options.
Battle leveling is really good these days so with crafted sets you can get very good stats on low lvl char. The rest depends on your skill (and on the situation with the lag on the server, lol). Cyrodiil can be really harsh for solo players, especially newbies, but if you're really interested in pvp, try to join a guild that organizes small scale raids, or a duel guild. Of course, you cant become a pro right from the start, but it will give you the basics (and probably some good advices from guildies).
