So the Netch pet is female...

I wasn't going to be online until after Christmas but this question has been burning in my mind; do baby Netch have all their appropriate tentacles at birth? Females have 4 and males have 5 (or 6 in ESO), which means the pet is female unless they are hermaphrodites until a certain age?

Lol wow. Males have an extra "tentacle" huh?

I had no idea. Are you positive it's a tentacle? Lmao

I actually said to my boyfriend last night that I wondered if that's where the idea came from xD

It's a pretty funny almost "Easter egg" type of thing. I'm going to have to see this myself. I know of a couple netch spawns that I'm going to have to scout out :)

@ZOS_GinaBruno - I know it's not important but I desperately want to know if the baby Netch is intended to be female xD

It's easy to tell by the shell, the Betty's have blue-ish soft ones while the Bull's have the tan-ish hardened ones, I recall the pet looked like a Betty in that regard.

I don't think the copy writer knew about the gender differences.

"hovering football-sized odorous gas bag trailing a half-dozen squirming tentacles"

Since you can domesticate netches, they could very well just sell females as pets. But it's an odd trade-off; the males are larger, but the females are more aggressive. Oh well. Luckily, it'll never grow up.

Bull netches had 6 tentacles in Morrowind too. Dragonborn netches are weird.

The pet baby netch is female. It has four tentacles and doesn't have the protective shell males have. It's possible they don't develop shelld until they're older, but when everything points at female, that's what I assume it is.

Is that the description IN ESO @Acrolas ?
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

there was a quest to tame them in morrowind.

The Bull Netches are the males of the netches. Bull netches are greater in size and sometimes have a poisonous attack. They have a tannish shell while having a purple skin under the shell. Bull netches also have 5 tentacles compared to the females that have only four. They also are greater in numbers than the betty netch.

Where is this text from? The bull netch in your screenshot clearly has six tentacles.

I used to proudly wear my Chitin Armour throughout Morrowind, at least until I killed one of those pesky Assassins that kept sneaking up on me as I slept :p

I can confirm that males do have an extra tentacle. It's not an idea or a concept. The creator gave us dudes an extra bonus there. Sorry if you're jelous ladiez but it's just the way it is.

EDIT: ZoS, plz do NOT nerf the extra tentacle!

Ok, I'm confused now. What's with all the "extra tentacle" and "5 tentacles"?

I'm looking like crazy and every TES game that has netches in it it's always: betty netch = 4 and bull netch = 6 tentacles. :/
