Doesn't matter what MMO you play, you will always encounter the same personalities. Keep in mind that many people will fall into multiple categories.

    1. People that complain about imbalance (nerf herders)

    2. People that think they are super important and better than everyone else.( Narcissistic)

    3. Trolls who bait people into arguments. These types just want to watch the world burn

    4. People who communicate by Meme

    5. People that think they are forum mods

    6. People who create guides / streamers

    7. People who genuinely and non-sarcastically answer questions

    8. Criminal Scum

Lol this comminuty is hilarious. I made a facetious joke 3 days ago regarding cash shop vamp and ww bites.

We were all joking about it, when a new player asked to buy a bite, I made a sarcastic remark about selling one for usd and that I accept western union. Long story short people laughed and no one was idiot enough to pm as it was obviously a joke within the context of the discussion in glenumbra zone chat.

But then some Melvin / keck beard / e-sheriff told me I was scum and that trying to scam people was not cool, and reported me, within 4 hours I was booted from the game and received an email explaining my 72 hour suspension due to trying to sell in game content for cash. Rofl

    That is this community :)

Because the PVP community is confused. They think that they are awesome at it. Entitled to it all for nothing....but then complaint over the zergs not being what they were sold (large scale combat must have given it away and most movies and historical images will show you how battles happened in sword and board days) and then take to the Internet complaining over the zergs but then winge the population is dropping and they should get a Skoria helm and shoulders in Devines for free and instantly, maelstrom weapons should come via hireling first thing in the morning and automatically be nirnhoned for them without question...

Every class to them is OP and their toon has been dealt a stealth nerf daily.

Sorcs are all shield stacking Bellends, NB are ganking ***, DKs are too hard to kill and templar are forgotten about. Seems there is a 5th character the PVE community doesn't get access to.

The PVE and casual PVP community just get on with it, grind away and have fun without caring what Internet fweeends have on their toon etc..we play for fun and the social aspect of it. Not being some loner dreaming of a leader board they ain't ever getting on due to smashing their keyboard into bits on the forum pages.

That's about it in a nutshell.

I suppose the once the PVP mom's basement boys get out of Cyro and socialise a little they'll develop not just in the game but social skills too.

That's what happens when the forums become a source of entertainment for people rather than a safe place to discuss the game with other enthusiasts. Some guys are entertained by trolling. Some entertained by arguing. Some guys are just so negative in real life it comes through on the forums. Of course there are going to be different viewpoints but it is the people here to be entertained that really ruin this place.

I think there is a surface to this community that can, at times, be totally selfish and egotistical.

However, I've been pleased with the abundance of, although sadly underreported, helpful people.

I'll point to two instances in particular, just recently.
    - I haven't dps'd in forever on my mamplar, like may/2014 forever, but I was able to find a group willing to go today. Patient and pleasant.
    - The recent rise of the AD battle pugs. Somebody has stepped up to organize the new or returning players to actually accomplish things in Cyro. Very helpful and pleasant (read "They know how to communicate effectively")

Its sad that there is this toxic veneer of people who either don't even play the game or gave up at launch and only log in to deride other's enjoyment. Maybe they're just the type of person who is perpetually unsatisfied with the temperature of their porridge.

There is a tone on these forums, if read everyday, that gives the idea that the sky is falling.

I had belonged to a good group of long time gaming friends. Some of us met 11 years ago, some as few as 6 years ago in other mmos. One of them played at the launch of ESO and lets face it, the game had more glitches than an aged Katherine Hepburn caught in strobe light (yes, I'm a bad person).

When I try and get them to try ESO, even offering to buy them the game or memberships to a plus account, they say, "I've read their forums and that game sounds like trash" or "That game is even more trash now."

Yes the forums have such a tone that people have turned down free copies and memberships...

P.S. They'd rather play Dungeon Defenders and Hearthstone.....way to set the bar high forums :dizzy:

    So true.
I've wondered why and I think it is b/c of the size of the commitment that MMOs take from us.
Perhaps people are subconsciously worried that their efforts will be for naught, that ESO will fold?

So yeah I don't get the "sky is falling" attitude either.

The in-game community is actually not that bad, partially at least. Forums...well first thing is that people mostly come here to complain/vent even if it won't solve anything, so you'll be seeing a lot more of "NERF THIS NAO IT KILLED ME AGAIN" threads than "I'd like to thank everyone for this great dungeon run I had today" ones. Second thing is on ZOS. A lot of older players have been here for a long time trying to defend ZOS, help players, be constructive and optimistic but there're only so many times you can get ignored til you start getting kind of bitter/disappointed. Yes, Zenimax must have their hands full and making a game that big ought to be harder than it sounds. Yes, Zenimax is trying to listen to the players(perhaps too much) sometimes. No, Zenimax doesn't appear to have a clue about what they're doing.

That said, I still try to answer questions when I can and I don't think the sky's falling, I do however think the sky is for some reason green instead of blue and raining scuttlers and no one seems to care(while we're speaking metaphorically)
