Has Text Chat been implemented or atleast in the works? Have the devs said anything about the subject? I'm not looking to start an argument thread or promote trolling.
Much thanks in advance to anyone who answers my questions.

Well that's disappointing to hear. Was really hoping there would have been something done about it by now. Oh well. Appreciate the quick reply dude.
Unfortunately for those of us wanting text chat, ZOS has been silent about it here on the forums. They mentioned their half baked reasons in a couple of ESO live episodes that someone else continually regurgitates every time the text chat discussion comes up.
The bottom line to the anti-tc argument is that pc and console are so different that text chat shouldn't be used with console. Apparently in their eyes we already have all the tools we need between built in voice chat and the options provided to us by the consoles.
I say it's utter BS. It's not a pc or console thing. It's a MMO thing. In order to communicate with a mass amount of players zone wide, give a voice to the players that can't or won't speak, translate simple phrases to foreign languages, in my eyes text chat is a must.
Several responses have also been that if we wanted ESO with text chat, we should have bought it on pc. If that was an option, I wouldn't have waited a year to play it. I would have just bought it on pc to begin with. But NO just NO. This isn't even a valid argument against text chat. It's people running out of good points against text chat being implemented.

Well, the game is like 80Gbs that would take a lot of space on a hard drive for console, they can easy implement chat options, but I think they took out the option to do so because the fact it would cause lots of issues. They could add limited chating for like say/yell/emote and if they ever do add it will most likely be that. Zone chat would be constant and a strain on the console players, because of the size of the game, they would need to reduce the harddrive space required for them. Its probaly why they refuse to address the issue because it would be a lot of work, and I guess they wanted it to feel more like a single player game :{

We do not know they don't tell players everything what company does that?
Well with consoles looking up xbox one hardrive and the one they show only has 500gbs, and only able to really store up to like 362gbs so yeah consoles are not as good as pcs me thinks.

There is a 1TB version of the XB1, plus they are expandable with external drives. I believe one of the arguments against text chat is the difference in screen distances from the viewer. Most PC players are just above an arms length away from their monitors. Console is anywhere from that distance to many feet away. The argument is that the text box would be hard to read. Many people call bs on this, but I actually believe it's true. It's the same reason why many of the graphics are oversized on console vs PC. Most people don't realize that even at the furthest settings you can't see your whole mount on screen with the console. There are many other differences, including the larger sized text boxes for everything else. I think that for text chat on screen to work, it would end up taking like 1/3 of the screen.

Check out some screenshots of FFXIV on console. It's not too bad as far as screen space. Additionally it can be minimized when you don't need it
i have already put a comment about this in ask us anything. but the fact is console players sit further away from their scren yes. but they also play on a larger screen generally

Been meaning to do that. Will do.

I'll get some screen grabs up if I can. From what I've seen, the layouts are so different. The console version is designed for the vision impaired.

If you're wondering how text chat looks on a console here's a video I made in DCUOhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOSRlMxeNOA
I have played DCUO on console for years now and I can't even begin to imagine what the game would be like without text chat. It makes it easy to get into groups, trade with other players, asking for help and making new online friends. I have never had an issue with it. Also in video I show that you can adjust the size of the text box and text as well as at a single click of a button maximize it to full screen should you want. You can change the setting so its transparent or if you don't want it up at all you can simply turn it off.
DCUO is a last generation game, nearly 5 years old. I can't think of a single reason why ESO isn't capable of text chat or why it wouldn't be implemented.

Nice example. For the people that argue you can't see the font - this blows that argument out of the water
On the PC ESO every Player Knows eachother, thanks to Text Chat. Its used alot
On the Console ESO people Play together but they dont know eachother. They never Talk on Voice Chat
