Treasure maps and are they rare/worth it?

Haenk✭✭✭✭Found a Wrothgar treasure map last week, the contents was not overwhelming. I'd compare it to a "master" level chest or WB loot. Always enjoyable to find VR15 BOP items

✭If you get a map for Orsinium or Cyrodiil, then be prepared to sell them for a lot. People can get the Orsinium gear from them occasionally.I have departed into the great unknown that is outside the game and the forums, and wish you well in your Tamriel adventures!

✭Orsinium and Cyrodiil maps: 1,000 - 5,000 gold. I've seen better prices and usually will snatch anything I see up to about 2k.
All of the others: 100 - 200 gold (if they even manage to sell).
I like to buy a bunch of the cheap maps when my young son is around. He likes to help find the treasure by looking at the image and memorizing it. Even though the loot is trash, I get invaluable time with him playing this little mini game.2 -
Flameheart✭✭✭✭✭Wrothgar and Cyrodiil treasure maps might be worth it because
-> chance to find one of the new set pieces
but
-> Darth Vader will be watching you while you open the chest and strike you with a Zenimax RNG dark force attack...

Once you find the spot and dig up the chest, the map disappears from your inventory. You must make the choice to keep or sell beforehand1
