Lop Sided Gear Acquisition?

Sitting here reading a thread about the coming PvP Vendor it occurs to me that putting the monster helms on a PvP vendor at all is simply another concession to the PvP players allowing them to bypass the hours of PvE grinding sometimes needed to acquire the items you want. PvP players can now do the thing they enjoy the most and still get the helms all be it at a high price perhaps.

This begs the question should there not be some sort of point system for doing PvE content where you can go buy gear? The only systems in the game right now are Alliance points, Telvar Stones and the Trophy Room items. All of which occur only in the PvP Zone? In addition why is it that all the gear you can acquire from these vendors is Bind on Equip and can be sold to make gold but Most of the good gear you get by doing PvE content is Account Bound? The drop rates on some of the sets you PvE for is so low that account bound drops seems unbalanced considering the PvP counter part sets are not Bound.

I am not anti PvP, in fact I enjoy it but as I was reading it just dawned on me this seems a bit lop sided and maybe unfair to the PvE players.

These sets will also sell for gold :) So that would be the PvE-centric variation of buying them I believe.

[EDIT] Just because I like to source stuff.
Correct. AP OR Gold will be usable to purchase the items on the merchant. To also be clear, it will not be a combination of both to purchase an item. EG. If you want a Lord Warden Shoulder piece (or any of the gear that appears on the merchant) you will spend either AP or gold, but not AP + Gold.

They also have said they are still deciding between BoE and BoP... so who knows. (check Brian's posts throughout the above linked thread)

Research maybe OP? It will be an absurd amount of AP/Gold but yet pvp players just get handed stuff to them, right?

Correct. But the fact a PvEr can buy these sets with gold too makes the OP's point no less valid, as I explain in the thread you linked.

Good thread and posts. To me the biggest disparity between the current acquisition of gear is two fold. PvE gear is almost exclusively BoP while the PvP gear is BoE. And also the fact there are currently NO points systems to reward PvE play like those for PvP. Both have their grinds but PvP is additionally rewarded during the grind with AP, Stones and Trophies.
