Please Equalize Head/Chest/Legs Armor Value...

...Or give Medium or Light Chest pieces a small bonus.

Because of the Undaunted Mettle passive, it is pretty much no-brainer for almost all builds to go 5-1-1 to maximise stats. Because the chest piece provides the most armor, it becomes a no-brainer for any min/max player to use Heavy chest.

As a result all my characters look heavily armored even though I only use light armor (on Magicka NB and Sorc) and medium (on Stam DK) and I am getting sick of the heavy armor aesthetics. I want my sorc to wear robes, but I cannot bring myself to knowingly give up performance for aesthetics, however marginal it is!

I know it kinda makes logical sense that chest protection should be the most important for protection, but please give me a rational gaming reason to use Medium or Light chests! Perhaps make the Light Armor and Medium Armor 5-piece bonuses only apply if you have the appropriate chest piece. Yes I'd rather take a tiny nerf than play in heavy armor forever... but I want everyone else nerfed with me! :D

That's why I only ever agree to wear heavy helm which I can hide
I love the looks of heavy armor though, but my mages are going to wear robes/jerkins regardless.

I usually wear a helmet in heavy (which I can hide) or greaves. I tend to favour Medium chests for many of my characters.

Have you considered wearing a costume to cover up the aesthetics of your armor? I know it is not an idea fix, but it would allow you to look more like a mage and still have the armor sets and stats you desire.

personally if enchants are stronger on chests, legs and helms yet armor isn't equal, it should be equal.
PLEASE REPLY TO ME WITH @dsalter otherwise i'm likely to miss the reply if its not my own thread

Yeah...I agree with the consistency aspect.

I usually go heavy legs (to protect my man bits) despite chest being more protection. I can appreciate where you are coming from, but I like that there is some logic in the armor values. Sometimes you have to make small sacrifices to look cool.

From a fashion point of view, I totally support this thread

Kinda annoying that you're forced to pick between max protection and looking your very best. Cant have both.

I would love to use the Xivkyn robe or jerkin for example, because really gorgeous design, but than I loose armor. Heavy chest just doesn't look as good, especially since they're all cursed with huge side flaps.

I do wear costumes sometimes but it doesn't work because:

    1) The same costume gets boring after a while. I can't modify or even dye them like my own gear.

    2) Can't wear tabard over costumes.

    3) I spend so much resources obtaining VR16 legendary gear, I damned well wanna show it off!

This sounds like a personal problem.

Err... I don't wanna be rude but there are people that share my problem. Do you know what "personal" means? This is not a specific problem that only affects me. If I wanted a little Mushu dragon pet cos I wanna be a Disney Princess, that'd be personal, this affects everyone who cares about min/max but does not wanna be wearing heavy armor all the time.
    No

I suppose an explanation would be asking for too much...

Light and Medium armor don't need a buff, heavy does.

There are tradeoffs to running around in a dress, and one of them is that your phys resist is logically lower.

@Heindrich Hey man, just wanted to apologize. After I posted that I realized I was being unfair, thats why I deleted my post in hopes no one saw it.

But alas my mean comment was seen.

And for the record I do know what personal means--I was just being a jerk

5L body with jerkin and pants. Medium shoulder. Heavy helm. I dont hide the helm because my face is ugly. Still looks pretty cool and scary in all xivkyn.

I agree on the Aesthetics. However, the Primal and Barbaric Heavy Chest (especially Barbaric) looks a lot like Light Armor or at least goes with Light Armor visually. So it is a way around this issue. Also, Legs tend to match up no matter what the Weight, so that is something to use instead.

I make up for this by wearing a heavy chest in the Mercenary style; it looks pretty nice when alongside 5LA/1MA leggings.

Unless there is some double top secret Zenimax reason, involving maths, explaining why the differences must stay, I don't see why they shouldn't be equal.
