Lore question: Why are there Khajiit in King Emeric's Lion Guard at the Hall of Heroes? (DC)

I haven't see any Khajiit serving anywhere else in the Daggerfall Covenant. I know any race can live any where, but I was surprised to see Khajiit serving Emeric as Lion Guard at the Hall of Heroes Bangkorai.

Someone else raised this question on reddit: https://reddit.com/r/teslore/comments/338rfh/questions_about_the_lion_guard_khajiit_and/

[Edit: Earlier in the quest chain, Emeric said he brought the Lion Guard up with him to Bangkorai, so I don't think they were stationed there.]

But there was no lore answer, just someone's opinion on how it could have come to be. I think this could be a great story in here somewhere. Anyone have any ideas, preferably backed up with lore?

    Not in the Guard.

I guess it's an oversight, probably because lots of guards are randomly generated (i.e. like the guards in Orsinium. Aren't they supposed to be all orcs ? Nope, they are not. Pay attention, listen to them.... the helmet can't fool us :))
What? Lead? Me? No, no, no. No leading. Bad things happen when I lead. We get lost, people die, and the next thing you know I’m stranded somewhere without any pants.

Seems as if some Khajiit preordered the Imperial Edtion version, Explorer's Pack included.

Does still not explain why some people play Argonians and give them the right to disrespect me.

I don't think they are randomly generated. If you look at the reddit post I linked in the OP, the guy who raised the question actually counted the members of the Lion Guard in various places by race. They were all the standard three DC races except at Hall of Heroes, where there are the Khajiit.

Of course, there are members of all races living everywhere, but no in the Lion Guard. I don't see Orcs in uniform for the Queen in AD, for example. But if there was an odd Argonian I guess they may have come from Grahtwood, from the small colony there.

These Khajiit are in the Lion Guard, King Emeric's personal elite guard.

Here is the count from the reddit post:

    Hall of Heroes

    Bretons: 21 | Redguards: 11 | Orsimer: 22 | Khajiit: 8 | Horses: 4 (sorry, couldn't help it)

    Total: 62 (excluding horses)

    Bangkorai Garisson

    Bretons: 15 | Redguards: 12 | Orsimer: 7

    Total: 34

    Erokii

    Bretons: 19 | Redguards: 8 | Orsimer: 4

    Total: 31

    Old-/Newgate

    Bretons: 28 | Redguards: 16 | Orsimer: 4

    Total: 48

    Lion Guard Redoubt

    Bretons: 15 | Redguards: 5 | Orsimer: 3

    Total: 23

Note that these do NOT include Quest givers or Merchants

    Why?

Cuz DC is all about equal opportunities.

Other factions are all about enslaving other races cuz elves clearly are the master race or being isolationists.

DC wants to bring everyone together and form a new Empire~

(Not joking btw, DC sorta gets their way in the end...Empire is rebuilt and Bretons more often than not are on the throne or near it cuz politics, Imperials liked that the Bretons were so eager to join the New Empire.)

There are some interesting ideas here, but I'm still looking from some type of lore-based answer.

Is there any settlement of Khajiit in the DC? I know, for example, that there is an Argonian settlement in Grahtwood.

They're the mascots, of course. It is the Lion guard, after all.

But really, I didn't notice this, it's interesting, and unusual, but I don't think there needs to be any lore explanation for it, they're just Khajiit who, for their own reasons, decided to join DC and ended up becoming very trusted apparently. What their reasons could be could be anything, from living in High Rock all their life, to a DC member saving their life or their family from one of the other alliances, to maybe just not liking the College of Aldmeri Propreirty and all the stuck-up Altmer and joining DC. EP has a lot of Khajiit slaves now that they can't enslave Argonians, so that could be a reason too. There is an Orc that converts from DC to AD too during the AD storyline, who most likely gets a high rank due to his capabilities and rank in DC before leaving.

They are NOT randomly generated. I have checked this several times, only appearance is random not Race. Also, how many Orsimer do you think want to be Guards? It's not a very "Honourable" job (at least not to the Orcs). Therefore most Orsinium Guards are Bretons and Nords living in Wrothgar.

I'm just wondering if there is a community of Khajiit somewhere in DC that I haven't seen yet aside from occasional traders.

In Grahtwood, there are settlements of Argonians and Orcs, for example.

In Wrothgar, there is a Khajiit who grew up there, whom you can meet on a quest.

Here's a theory. These particular Khajiit may have defected from AD because of the racism and abuse at the Aldmeri College of Propriety on Auridon.

Bangkorai seems like a good place for a bunch of khajiit to live, on the edge of a desert running trade caravans between hammerfell and high rock. Maybe they have a cohort in the lion guard as a sign of loyalty to the king who in return tolerates their presence as a neutral trading power

    Kotaro thinks that,

    1. They are Undercover and are AD Spies  or
    2. They are Renrij (Translates to = Landless Scum, as are all Khajiit that do not fight for their Homeland and the Aldmeri Dominion.), DC Sympathizers and now can never go back to Elsweyr as the Mane and the Khajiit of Elsweyr would have them put to death if they were to ever step back onto Khajiiti lands, since they have gone against the Mane and the Aldmeri Dominion.

This is why this Khajiit goes out of his way to kill any enemy(EP or DC) Khajiit in Cyrodiil, because they are Renrij and need to be put down.

Unanswered is exactly how i think this question should be left. i am hoping they have done this intentionally, and are intentionally letting the community come up with their own thoughts and ideas on what may be happening here. It leaves a hundred and one different possibilities and they very well could be leaving it open, with the intention to build around it. possibly a new quest line based around these particular khajiit, either in this game or the next, dating either shortly before or after the time period this game is set in. And if it was not intentional, which i highly doubt, considering it is pretty hard to accidentally put some khajiit in an honored seat of the enemy alliances kingdom, they may even correct the error with the same kind of thing. Too hopeful?

King Emeric is also friends with a vampire, so hes not all that bad, Queen Ayreen is not racist compared to some other highelves. But they all are having people die for them :( all because they want the ruby throne for themselves.

Jorunn, Emeric, and Ayrenn all have good reasons to want to rule the Empire. Don't think in terms of wanting to harm the other peoples. Consider that they are also afraid of what elements of the other faction want and have done to their people in the past. I think the three alliances fight as much out of fear as they do out of any desire for a power grab. Mannimarco and his Worm Cult did an excellent job of creating an environment that preyed on past preconceptions. I would make specific examples but I want to avoid giving away any spoilers. I'll put it simply, while Ayrenn herself seems a good queen, one has a strong reason to fear her Dominion. Look what her brother was willing to do. Look what others surrounding him in the Heritance are willing to do. Ayrenn can barely contain the mistreatment of the races in her own faction, even when she believes it to be wrong, and one of her best friends is a Khajiit! The simple question an outsider might have, is what happens in an Empire ruled by Ayrenn when she dies or is assassinated. That question scares them too much to let her have the throne. Those same questions fuel the feelings of all the factions (Not that they do not have problems in each of the factions as is). Orcs have a long history of being ostracized by both men and mer alike, often for good reason given the brutish acts of the followers of Trinimac/Mauloc. Argonians have a history of enslavement by the Dunmer. Nords have a history of invading the Dunmer, and also being invaded and enslaved by the Dunmer. Altmer have a sour history enslaving both Bosmer and Khajiit.

In short I don't think it is simple as they 'want the throne for themselves'. I think the motivations are more broad than simply amassing power for themselves.

My conjecture is that these Khajiit are simply mercenaries who showed superior skill and loyalty, perhaps even before the three faction war. They became part of Emeric's elite guard and were loyal. It could very well be as simple as that. There's no reason to assume that Khajiit can only make friends with female elf queens.
