Make it possible to change races

hello one thing that's really been bugging me is race selection I originally wanted to be a magicka tank so I went high elf and went stam instead this really is annoying me seeming like high elves don't have good racial bonuses for this type of build which is an overall disadvantage I was considering buying the expansion with the imperial race but I see no point because the races are unchangeable once selected and I don't intend on making another tank. I would love to be able to go imperial instead of high elf or even wood elf either way I just think this is a little unfair especially with imperial race because you have to make another character when you buy it which takes forever to level so if someone from zenimax could implement this feature or maybe change my race if I buy the expansion that would be much appreciated.

This is Deltias recent vid of a simple racial comparison, and makes me feel happier to have a Stam Breton and an Argonian anything.

They will be introducing race changes, probably with the barber shop. Though when hasn't officially been clarified yet.

Not sure what Deltia is saying but High elf is terrible for stamina. He's probably all blah blah extra magika for magika dumps but that's nonsense. Pick a redgaurd or imperial or Khajiit or wood elf and be much happier. Even Orc is better. Don't wait around for race change either just roll another

It's a pure comparison in the PTS of a Magicka Sorc that's an Altmer/Bosmer. The DPS difference with all legendary BIS gear is around 5% apparently.

I too was a victim of this, at first I want to make Stam NB (If I knew NB were this pop I would have gone with DK or Temp), I choose Breton as I play Breton in all my TES game, but then I found out about min maxing, needless to say I reroll my char into Imperial. I was only level 17 at that time.

Now, I feel that NB is not the class that I want, but I have done too many things with this char (Cadwell gold, Motif, research etc). so if in the future there's race / class change I would probably gladly do it. It's rather boring playing as Stam NB. Bow is not as what I thought it was....

12% so maybe a little over 3k. Pretty sure it stack though so with other bonuses maybe more

That build is my favorite! Granted I changed it so much that it's not Deltia's build anymore at all, but once it was built off his Magicka DK build.

The Deltia video makes me really happy. One of the best tanks I know used to tank with a altmer DK at end game all the time and was incredibly good. I've tanked everything with my Dunmer DK as well. Just the other day, I ran across an Argonian Templar with the Flawless Conquerer title and Argonian racials are often complained about the most on the forums.

I had an imperial DK that originally started life as a crafting alt which I've now leveled fully and turned into my main tank. There is a difference, no doubt. I do feel like I have to worry a bit less about Stamina and Health. It does help but the difference isn't 'night and day' so to say. I never feel like 'I could never have done this without an imperial'.

Do racials matter and make a difference that is more than cosmetic? Yes, definitely but different roles are affected differently and to different extents. Races matter more if playing a damage dealer I guess but I have yet to convert my imperial Nightblade to Magicka so I am a bit reserved about how much.

Do racial passives enable or exclude your character from anything or from playing at leaderboard level? Not at all. I can think of all sorts of weird and wonderful combinations doing incredibly well. One of the top tanks in EU is a khajiit. I can think of top DDs who are imperial/nord magicka builds and great healers that were originally meant to be stamplars and are therefore redguards or imperials.

If you like your character and class, there is no reason you absolutely need and must have a race change to play a different role or build. Respec, re-gear and work on skill. Player skill is much, much more likely to make or break your 'career' as a tank, DD or healer. You will find horribly played altmer sorcerer DDs. Awful Breton healers. Terrible imperial tanks and absolutely incredible ones that are the 'wrong' races.

If you don't know how to tank, a race change won't suddenly change that. If you are bad at tanking, a race change won't change that. Only your experience and learning will do that.

Well I can understand the barber shop to change hair, beard styles, and adjournments,. But race changing sounds like you need more mystical power. Maybe one of the Daedra lords can accommodate this role. Make it a quest line and as a favor for you once a month he'll race change your character.

More likely it'll be a mythical Crown Store item that suddenly makes you another race...

It's coming... either with or in wake of, the "barbershop" character recustomization feature. In all likelyhood, that might arrive with TG or DB DLC, so... 1st or 2nd Q 2016 seems the current best estimate.

As for the lore - we already have "race changes" in the game, in several quests. Greenshade, that Dunmer turning himself Argonian with a potion you help gather the final ingredients for trying for Khajiit? Race change! Rivenspire, that "emerald chalice" which turns all who drink from it Goblin? Race change! Sentinel, that alchemist turning orcs into monkeys and men into rats or dogs? Race change! (okay, not the kind player characters might be looking for, but... still... )
If "alchemy" is good enough for those, it might just as well be good enough for placer character race change.

Totally agree with Helgi though. Why should race changes be introduced, because a few players are unhappy with the choice they made? Create an alt. People want the easy way. Of course this is just my opinion with no expectation of agreement.
Not that it matters, as we'll probably see this feature in the future.
