Templars left behind on Undaunted Sets

Hey there,
I was just making my new Templarbuild for Maelstrom/PvE and thinking about gear to use. Since its pretty locked on 5x TBS/julianos and 3x Willpower for Magicka DPS I had 4 Spots left (Dualwield). I think naturaly everyone would think 2x Torugs, 2x Kena/Nerien'eth and so did I.
First was Kena but canceling a light attack with my spammable (Sweeps) - as i did on any other class with Kena - wouldnt work. When I run with my nightblade I have about two seconds to do a second light attack after the first one, but appearently the 1.1 second Sweeps is too long for Kena to proc, a big disappointment right on the start.
So I went over to Nerien'eth wich I found even more interesting for Arena. I did tests with most usual skills that templars use, and after that also with all other classes, heres what I found out:


This is just a slap in the face for templars, why the ... would Impulse proc it and Blazing Spears, not. Both are instant DMG+DoT, its the exact same thing, that also goes for Eclipse, Curse and Inhale. So what should a Templar use? A Skoria with 10 seconds cooldown? No, even better, put on the crappy Bogdan, get a healing Staff and do the only thing that templars are allowed to do in this game. So much for play as you want.

I know that you can still make it work, but why would you exclude a single class from these powerfull sets? Are Templars so OP? I think not.

Either you're not gearing up properly, take a look at my guide in my signature Templars are very much capable of really high DPS when geared correctly and doing the correct rotation, above is the video of my rotation I decided to put out that I believe no one else is doing that as I've seen most people just say "Templars suck" I mean all we need is a magic version of Vampires Bane and Balanced Warrior Passive to be Spell Damage as well.

You said that Molag Kena doesn't work I post a video proving you can weave it with Dark Flare then swap to Sweeps during the uptime of Molag Kena (which is much stronger than a sweep build and no Molag Kena at all, so overall more DPS). You then said exclude from powerful sets, what powerful sets are you talking about, you only mentioned 2 in your example and 1 of them works.

As for Nerineth, yes it does work on Burning Light, it doesn't work on Damage over Time, anything that is channeled is considered a Damage over Time, so it wouldn't work with Sweeps but you have a chance to proc Nerineth with Sweeps and Burning Light.

Saying Templars aren't OP is one of the silliest things I've ever heard, you have access to Breath of Life no other class can burst heal in dungeons, trials and even vma. You also have access to the easiest DPS kit, if you throw on a typical DPS build with dual swords you have an easy 20k DPS. You also have access to Radiant Destruction, which at the moment is broken but ask yourself, what execute does this amount of damage, broken or not it is the strongest and will always be the strongest execute in the game


The only thing Templars need in their kit is a proper damage over time ability (vampires bane to be made magic damage) and Balanced Warrior passive to give spell damage. Stop following the trend where Templars suck, every single build in this game uses an Undaunted Piece, whether it be a 2pc or a 1pc, everyone uses Molag Kena 1pc.

Ok, first of all I'm not working on a healing build, should 've clarified that earlier maybe. BoL is of course the best Heal in the game, however I'm not using it as a DPS, and even in vMA I rather go with Healing Ward because of the healing debuff in certain stages. I also know that Nerieneth is not proccing of DoTs, however all Skills I listed except Sweeps have an initial damage on cast, some are followed by DoTs.
Again, I'm not here to say Templars suck, I just wonder why very similar skills of other classes proc a set bonus and Templars don't. Of course you can weave dark flare to proc Kena, you also could just spam light attacks and it would proc all the time, but that's not the point.
I'm surprised to hear that it procs off burning light, I spent 20mins in spellscar spamming spears and sweeps and didn't have a single proc, I'll try that again.

Btw, you can proc molag kena with sweep when you use a destro staff instead of swords. So if you don't want to use nifty's rotation with dark flare (which is obvieously superior) you could try that. With a maelstrom staff this could be better than using swords (haven't tested it though).

I tried the Maelstrom one out, and you just lose too much spell damage from the swords and 4% from nirnhoned (if you've got sharpened)

Really? Is that all "we" need? Don't see how this will help Stamina Templars in the slightest.

Wow yeah Breath of Life is so useful for DPSing.
Every class has access to usefull burst healing if needed for PvE; Hardened Ward for Sorcs, Dragon Blood for DKs and everyone has access to Restoration Staff skills which has Combat Prayer and Healing Ward.
The "easiest DPS kit"? What makes Templars particularly easier to DPS with compared to Sorcs spamming Overload, DKs putting up three DoT effects and whipping away, or NBs spamming Funnel Health or Surprise Attack while keeping a couple of buff/debuffs up? Every class has somewhat easy rotations, Templars aren't easier than other classes when it comes to rotation.
Wow 20k DPS, such wow, much awe...
What execute does that amount of damage? Every single execute in the game that is an instant cast is better than that channeled piece of ***.

5 x Kagrenac is also a good choice. And for the other 4 slots: Magnus. On solo jabbing Templar Molag makes no sense.

imho your best bet is to just use 5 julianos 3 willpower 4magnus or something along that line for the arena.
every single bonus of magnus 2/3/4 is useful.

obviously, you cannot proc kena with dark flare in the arena. apart form that, I don't think it's worth it anyway if you're not using an elemental drain build.

that being said, I don't think this is exclusive to templars. afaik, most stam builds don't use a (full - 1piece kena could be used by everyone) undaunted set in the arena. I agree that it's a bit set we cannot use nerieneth easily, but sweeps already have decent AoE and we don't need it as much
