What is the fastest way for a noob to gain AP?

Played through nearly all PVE content, still relatively new to PVP (first month). Trying to unlock Vigor.

Best way to do this? I'm new at PVP, so I don't know who the major guilds are, I'm on console so I can't use text chat (curse you ZOS!), and all the action seems to happen while I'm not playing.

I've heard some people can get 100AP in an hour, who are these people and how do I run with them?

15k Heals sounds like a terrible PvP build, probably with 700 regen...

Lol even healing a zerg is faster.
And repairs are really expensive. You need 326400 ap to unlock Vigor and 809600 ap for caltrops. Every repair kit costs 90 gold/300 ap and using it gives only 25-30 ap.

New to Cyrodiil? I'd get into a PvP guild that is cool with you grouping up. Learn the ropes. Don't be afraid to die a lot. Stick to groups that like to defend on populated campaigns. Soak up that AP, and wait for the defensive tick to happen after the battle dies down.

Repairing walls is a very important part of getting AP for rank in your campaign, especially if going for emperor, but although it seems that you don't get that much AP as a reward, the AP you spend does not disappear from your progress in Alliance Rank, so think of it as a 10% bonus to what you've already earned. It's acts both like experience and coinage. Repairing walls is a terrible idea if you're saving up AP to spend, but for AR it's a great bonus.

Also, kill delve bosses for the 1 hour AP boost.

Its only 100ap or so if there werent any players.
Though defending a keep or resourse against enemy zerg gives 1-5k ap. But yeah, in any case you just need to wait a bit to get these bonus ap.

I don't know how to gain 100k AP in an hour. I do look at the map and see where the action is. I don't know how to group up from zone in Console, so I can't help you there. Meanwhile, if there are any guilds running groups while you are on, that's a good way to get to know them.

If you run with them a few times and like them, ask about joining.

Just go where the action is (crossed swords icon on the map, keeps under attack) and fight

Just to add some perspective, I'm not sure 100k an hour is feasible. I do about 25k on average a night. A night typically is 2 - 3 hours. I'm definitely not a top 5% PvP player. I've never run with a zerg though, or more than 2 raids groups. I'm usually with a 12 person group defending. Nights where we strictly defend I can see upwards to 50k AP. But nights we are on the offense, it's usually pretty low.

I believe he suggested bow for the ranged AOE, Bombard, Scorched Earth and using Meatbag catapults can help, too.

The idea is to tag as many players as you can so you get credit when they die.

Repairing walls give jack. GO out and kill people that's the best way. Use AOE

I usually go the healing zergs route... Although I know some people are scratching their heads as to why a redguard DK is spamming mutagen lol but as another has said is about tagging people, either for heals or kills, so whatever does that the best.

Find groups of friendlies, spam Regeneration (I don't care if you aren't magicka, it'll still give you AP when people are healed)

When you get War Horn at rank 4: use War Horn on allies when against a lot of enemies. When done correctly, you can easily get 2000+ AP from a War Horn use.

Ensure that you always have the "Kill 20 enemy *insert class*" They give 1000 AP per quest

Ensure you have a "Capture *insert enemy resource/fort*" quest. Tons of AP for just being in a battle.

And, as always, try to avoid dying so you don't have to zoom around Cyrodiil to get back to a fight. The longer you last for, the more AP you can get in a fight.

It works, but its really boring and not very effective compared to coordinated groups. Also, zergs are lagging everything around them.

Kill a lot and follow groups is the best for a beginner. Once you're more of a "pro", you can farm AP from weak players by defending a resource/keep.

I don't know exactly how much AP i get in a day, but I do have Vigor and travel solo.

Good advice on the thread so far, but if you want to level you need to do it all. Defend, Kill, Capture, Heal, Repair and do quests. I also rez everyone I see dead, so carry allot of soul gems.

I personally would go out to grind and steal just so i could buy supplies for PvP. Most my gold/ap was dumped in repairing walls.

The only thing worse than zerging is leeching AP from zergs with rapid regen. If you want to heal (and it gives really decent AP) at least do it right. Take a templar and spam that BoL in small scale, healing springs in large scale. Throw some shards and watch the AP flow towards you.

Once you get some knowledge of how it works in Cyrodiil you can create a smallscale pvp build or large scale build (and run with some guild) depending on your playstyle, both of which can grant good AP.

One of the biggest things is when you successfully defend a keep or a resource wait for the defense tick. It is sometimes delayed, but if you are just in it for the AP don't rush off to reclaim the resources etc... because capturing a resource only gives you a little AP. Wait for defense ticks. The absolute best way is to be really good and kill a lot of enemy players. Having a good guild that can destroy pugs is good too. For the average joe, help get kills when you can, and wait for defense ticks.

Just roll with a zerg. Regeneration on a resto staff, spam it out and you'll get the most points.
