Bear mount animation kinda bad

Eurygorgon
I love this game and love my new Snow Bear. The aesthetic is perfect, but I was kinda bummed at the animation. Looks kinda wacky and jerky, and almost like my characters spine is about to break. I really am not a complainer, just wanted to casually bring it up. Maybe some other folks agree, animations can be changed. Anyway, love the game.

I think the animation looks pretty darn good, but only when you're going at lower speeds. It looks smooth and natural from my perspective. But then you hit rapid and start sprinting on your max-speed riding skill character and suddenly you look like an awkward boulder speeding down the hillsides of Cyrodiil. Still pretty cool, but I see where you're coming from.

Tamriel bear mounts are simply not trained well enough. Heres how a properly trained bear mount does it:

    This is a controversial subject.
I know many players do not enjoy the animation of the mount, while may other appreciate it. Some players may even experience motion sickness!

Personal I think the animation team did a great job, because its a bear, it's not supposed to be a smooth ride. I find it realistic.
But this is really a question of personal taste. There is not much to discuss about it.

They way my characters ride the bear....and I actually mean ride in a naughty way....it's kinda funny per my wife.

I won't say the bear animations are bad but that the player animations are interesting while riding the bear.

It's almost like they didn't tame the bear very well or are new to riding and are trying to hold on but keep getting almost thrown off.

The bear animation might be realistic, but my wife and I find it a bit distracting. She regrets buying the bear mount because of the animation. I'll just stick with my horses for now.

Although I do like the look of the bear armor.

I think they did an alright job on their run but year, the torso of the character riding them remains a bit too still.

The animation is what put me off buying them too. It might be realistic but it looks horrible and made me a bit dizzy trying to watch it on the PTS.

Same for me, I couldn't handle watching it.

That said, it's accurate I'm afraid, they even toned it Down from how a bear really runs.

The animation is actually pretty good. IMO better than the horses' and, arguably, senches'. However, it does look a bit ridiculous when you're at 60/60/60 as far as the riding skills go.

There's no way to see the riding animation before you buy it, so it's not like I'm way off base here. They basically told me to go pound salt when I submitted a ticket.

The bear animation is great. It's my favorite thing about the bear mount. Anyone who lives in an area with bears (or who has seen videos of them running for that matter) will tell you that the animation pretty much nails how bears run. I love the way it looks when my orc is riding around on his bear.

And so they should. If you bought the bear expecting it wouldn't move like a bear, then that's on you.

    Well there is.

    1) Try it on the PTS before the content is officially released.

    2) Watch some other sucker who bought the bear sight unseen and go from there. There is also most likely someone who will have posted footage if you can't decide watching someone else right it.

I like the animation. Especially how our body/legs perfectly follow the movement. I think that the fact that each different animal has their own set of rider animations (guar, horse, senche, now bear...) is amazing if you consider that most games (cough cough WoW) have the same generic and stupid "sitting still" animation for most mounts for years. Even when you're flying. So stupid.

Bear animation looks awkward for the same reason people don't normally ride bears in real life: because riding a bear isn't an easy thing.
