I'm trying to reinstall ESO a second time this week. I have a high speed broadband internet connection and speedtest.net clocks me at a solid 90.7 mbps download speed on several runs.
I can download games through steam that are 30+ GB on an average of an hour or so. Music, Movies, anything is extremely quick. Yet when I try and install ESO my average speed is about 20 kb/s.
Even the initial download from MY Account page to install the launcher (Which is only 104 MB) takes a couple minutes, it should take seconds at most. I've tried Running as Administrator, Disabling firewall and Avast checking my router ports, and stopping / restarting the launcher. Nothing works to improve the speed.
I gave up earlier this week after letting the installer run for 2 days and nights and only making it to about 5%. I uninstalled. I really want to play the game again as it has the best combat out there in my opinion for an MMO. Am I doomed to just let the launcher run for days as it creeps along and installs?
Is this a known issue that has came up recently? I've installed this game a few times in the past and it's usually a breeze. It creeps along at about 3-5 MBps until it hits about 20 % then zooms to the finish quickly. Usually took a couple hours tops. All and all it was always slower than other games I installed, but nothing like the 12-20kb/s speed I'm getting now.
Just thought I'd mention it in case a tech support rep reads this and finds it's a recent problem that they may be able to address. I don't think it's on my end, but I definitely could be wrong about that as I still have a lot to learn when it comes to these things.
