How would you rate your overall enjoyment of each faction? (no spoilers please)

I rerolled from Daggerfall Covenant to Aldmeri Dominion, and I find myself not enjoying myself as much.

While I found the DC areas (at least up through Rivenspire) to be incredibly boring, I actually enjoyed the stories and got invested in the stories in each area. The AD areas so far (first two large areas) are a little prettier, but the stories seem to revolve around nothing but high elves being racist and I couldn't care less what is happening. Bosmer are cool, but high elves are annoying stereotypes and Khajiit just seem mellow, boring, and irritating to listen to. That being say, I think the layout of Wayrest sucks and find Elden Root incredibly convenient, despite not being able to mount in the upper level (it's literally just a big open room, so who cares if you can't mount when you can run directly to everything).

I'm considering rerolling again, partly because I don't think I want to be Templar and partly because I'm not enjoying DC. I'm trying to decide if I want to go back to DC or try out EP. Hell, maybe the AD story is incredible in the last three areas.

How would you rate each faction based on story, racial background, city capital, and area design?

You quit DC too soon. The next zone in DC, Alik'r Desert, has featured in numerous polls as the best zone in the game :)

I have characters in every faction but play DC exclusively now. That said, you can play in every faction by doing Cadwell's Silver and Gold, so just enjoy the whole thing and make up your mind when you're done.

    LOL...

    i started off as AD,
HATED the questlines.... got to lvl30

    Then rerolled an EP,
Ran around in EPLand like an idiot not finding any quests and bored of killing Netches..... got to lvl32

I then started DC and actually got all the way to VR1...
    AND then the joke,
    NOW do AD.......LMFAO!!!

Spent all my time leveling in Cyrodiil to VR12, then VR14 and now VR16...

DC: Best story/quests and environment. From lush forest to desert to Rivenspire's eerie landscape.

AD: Worst story, lamest quests, ugly environment.

EP: Good story and quests and environment. 2nd place for me

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Honestly the only time it matters what faction you are is cyrodiil or finding RP groups. As you will eventually play all the quests of each faction on your character (original faction 1-50, 2nd faction during cadwell's silver, and 3rd in gold).

I however enjoyed EP questing the most. That may be the case since I started playing ES since morrrowind. With DC a close second. Both had very unique environments while leveling and interesting quests.

That being said AD was by far the worst of the three mostly because you play in nothing, but forests or jungles the whole time (I usually enjoy those types of areas in MMOs...). The storyline quests felt repetitive as well. I'd say it's only saving grace was some quests having fun, unique mechanics not found anywhere else in the game.

I can't really compare because every character I've created I started in AD and haven't gone through Cadwell's yet to see the other stories. What I do know is that I loved AD, loved the storylines... I also live in a rural area surrounded by trees and valleys, so I feel at home amongst the trees and can also understand the Green Pact, albeit I'm definitely not a vegetarian. LoL!

I've completed the quests in AD numerous times and they really never get old IMO. I love Queen Ayrenn and Raz, and really hated when the main AD questline ended. I am looking forward to Cadwell's once I complete Coldharbour on my newest character... the problem I had previously was that once I got a character through Coldharbour, I'd lose interest in them so I'd start another. My newest character I've been enjoying a lot and hopefully that will keep me going on a single character finally. :)

I have one character in each faction, and I actually think DC is the best by far. I got attached to more NPCs in those quests than any other faction, so I cared a lot more about what was going on. Rivenspire is still my favourite storyline, mostly because I liked all the NPCs I got to work with there. Wayrest's layout has never bothered me either.

Second is AD, but the forest atmospheres of Valenwood aren't really my thing so I struggled to get through 3 zones of it. High Elves are my favourite race so I enjoyed learning more about them, and Raz is awesome. I can't stand Elden Root, and never go there if I can help it.

Honestly I don't remember much about EP, a few NPCs and quests here and there but nothing really stood out. It's been a while since I went through it though so maybe I'll get a better appreciation for it the second time around for Cadwell.

AD: good story and environments (except Malabar Tor, I hate all these cliffs). My favourite of all 3 factions.
DC: good story, but not a fan of zones (except Alik'r desert).
EP: I didnt like the story (mainly because of the lack of interesting characters) and I absolutely hate all zones except Stonefalls.

    Blood for the Pact! ;)

I played everything, and I still like the pact best. But that was almost a given, seeing how I am an incorrigable dunmer-fancier...
    On a more objective note...

DC is the closest to "classic fantasy" in many ways, which can make it somewhat boring, The regions are basically divided into "classic european medieval fantasy" and "classic arabic 1001 nights fantasy" looks, and the quests generally deal with classic "monsters and evil mages threatening the kingdom" plotlines. Nothing special, but solid enough, and I agree that the alik'r is well worth seeing.

AD is heavily influenced by the mentioned altmer attitude in plotlines, three out of five regions deal with altmer court intrigue and its fallout in some way. Also, four of the five regions are woods in some way, which gets a tad boring too, unless someone really likes nature! (though sadly its also filled with plant-fu... uhm... favoring bosmer whose ways can grate on ones nerves after a while... if I had another character slot, I'd be tempted to make a dunmer dragonknight pyromancer who dreams of nothing more then setting fire to every tree in valenwood, just for suffering through their "green pact this, green pact that" for three maps every AD playthrough  )

EP has the most regional varietee, from volcanic stonefalls to temperate "wierd plant" Deshaan to swampy shadowfen to wintery eastmarch to tundra-ish rift; and their storylines give way more background to the three-banners war then any of the other alliances, something I really appreciate for setting the "why are we even here" background if one goes to PvP in cyrodil... gives me some background as to why my characters do what they do, and a good reason to despise the other alliances, something that is rather lacking from the other factions questlines.

In any case, as it is known, every character can end up playing through all factions questlines, due to cadwells. Its still a important choice where you set your "homelands"... but the game gives us eight character slots, so you can always make one for each and see which one -you- end up liking best... ;)

AD's story.. Ugh! Can we keep Raz and get rid of the rest?

EP's story.. Er, what story? No cohesion at all. Very disjointed.

Dc's story. The only one that is connected through most of the zone.

I like the DC and EP zones. I've never been an elf lover (although yes, I am an orsimer and technically i suppose that's an elf race, and dark elfs are kind of charming). Apart from the Khajit and Rawlka, AD wasn't for me.

DC was my favourite: They had the most interesting story lines in their quests by a long, long margin.
Then I enjoyed AD the next - auridon and greenshade had abysmal stories although are relatively small and that made it go quick, Graahtwood was a little more enjoyable, I basically skipped malabal-tor on both of my toons and the place where Rhawl-Kha is had a few good quests.
Then, then there's EP, drunk nords, dark elves involved with firey daedra and a moment of interest spike with lore about the hist. Unfortunately all of the areas in EP are massive, and with only 1 interesting quest line it was nearly impossible for me to complete cadwell's gold... TWICE.

I like all the factions. AD has a great story with some actual depth and emotion to it, a great group of recurring characters, and beautiful environments. DC had a fun story but not quite as engaging and emotionally involved as AD, and I liked the European feel of the Daggerfall areas. As for EP, it had a decent story, great variety in environments, but had the weakest set of recurring characters, save for Naryu.
