From the contest rules:
If entrant is a resident of Canada: correctly answer without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered at a mutually convenient time in person or by telephone.
I'm really curious as to why this is. And how difficult of a math question are we talking here?

To clarify, this is a requirement for Canadians who are chosen as prize winners. We have to answer a math question before actually being eligible for the prize.

✭✭✭✭✭It's a legal requirement in Canada for all contests, in order to distinguish them from for-profit gaming/betting (which is illegal with a few exceptions). The math question would usually be something along the lines of:
