Should skill lines be restricted to game modes?

So, as most know there are 3 skill lines locked to specific game modes:

Undaunted = PvE
Alience War (2 skill libed) = PvP

There's a large part of the community who only focus on one part of the game, whether it's PvP or PvE. These players will most likely never have access to a whole skill line.

Do you think PvP players should have a way in Cyrodiil to level up their undaunted skill line. Also, should PvE players have a way out of cyrodiil to support and level up their allience war lines.

If you do, how would you see it implemented so it still makes sense to that actual line?

You want to follow a particular skill line? Nothing's stopping you. Just play the game the way it was intended to be played. Do PvE content for PvE rewards, PvP content for PvP rewards, and as for crafting, well that's the same - do some crafting content for crafting rewards!

I vote a hearty "NO" for those who want everything without earning it, and believe that if they can't be given it they should be able to buy it. That includes a hearty "NO" for one character doing the content and the reward being account-wide!

Because only 2 of the questions require and answer and the answer given would apply to both. But, obviously you knew that.

To be honest, I was shocked they weren't restricted but I'm glad they aren't. More skills means more builds. Plus I couldn't live without that speed boost. Lol

The game's central concept of "PvP in PvP areas and be safe in safe areas" needs to stay the way it is.

They are short progressions, so I say no. But I think PVE player should have access to Cyrodil Ranks, Ive thought maybe they should get them via Vet-Content, or then add brand new Ranks for PVE players, PVE players have whined they dont get enough rewards. Cyrodil Ranks works for PVP players so why not for PVE players too, 1 skill point every two rank aint much, but its something.

I think he's referring to the fact that these skill lines can only be leveled up by doing pvp or pve.

For example, the only way to increase alliance war skills is to gain ap, which is literally impossible outside of pve. Of course you can use any skill in any situation, but if you do NO pvp at all you won't have access to skills such as Purge, unless you go out of your way to enter Cyrodiil.

Which I think is the right system to have. Gives more of a reason to mix up your play style and dip into all of the content :)

Oh!. I get it now. Wow that title mislead me. Wonder how many others got fooled. Thanks for clarifying.

Should have read this more closely. A NO means you want it opened up. YES means skills stay locked in mode. Otherwise, I agree, you want it, you earn it by playing appropriate mode.

They should be restricted, as stated before this helps players mix things up a bit and get out of there comfort zone.

If they do want a particular ability or passive the idea progressing down that way should reward them with such.

I agree some parts of this game are really not alt friendly. But it's not impossibly long to grind such skills as it was before.

Especially with changes to gaining AP.

I think there are some changes here in the future.

On the last podcast they announced a pvp vendor for undaunted sets and other gear sets coming I think with Thieves Guild.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Assult and Support skill lines opened up but it's just a guess.

The game has gotten so mixed, they should open both sides up to everyone or restrict skill lines.

So that you can not use undaunted in pvp areas and you can't use pvp skill lines in PVE instances.

I would make the argument it was fine until Malesteom Arena and Leaderboards mainly because some PVP skills give a distinct and clear advantage in a PVE instance with leaderboards and rewards.

Namely Vigor especially for stamina builds but purge, barrier, caltrops, and magica det are extremely strong in Malesttom Arena to.

Ah thanks, I followed the line of reasoning in the introduction but he reversed that line in the questions - my mistake, however.
