Dragon knight or Templar & Build

acbaracuda
I started playing this game a few days ago so I'm a total newbie. After finally deciding to play DC I've made a Breton DK, lvl 7 at the moment, and started looking for a build to follow. I kinda know how the stamina/magika paths work but the rest is very confusing. I looked over the internet but i don't know what to chose, what is viable and the other stuff. I only know that I want to be stamina DPS, 2h and shield, dual wield, 2h all look fun. Also what would be better for this kind of playstyle dragon knight or templar. I'm low level so i have no problem in making another character.

I would be very happy if someone could tell me something about the dk, templar thing and a build to level on each of them or the one that you think it's better.

Wish I could help. Dragonknight is next on my list of VR16 characters. Though, I think you are already on a good start. You know where you want to start, just some tips to go. Allot of Stamina users stick with two handed or duel wielding. Unless of course you want to be a tank, then you'll want to go with Sword and Shield. And, since you are a stam knight, you can use Snipe on Bow skill tree, which scales with max Stamina.

I think most DK's are Magicka, from what I hear, for DPS purposes. Again, I never used DK yet, so I can't really speak about it. Good luck!

At low level their really is no build. You should focus on leveling up as many weapon and armor skill lines as you can. Also lol up ALL you class skill lines.

A build is something that you create at late-end game and will completely depend on your focus. Pvp or pve. Dps, support, tank. Also your play style and what YOU find effective.

My advice...experiment with different things. Watch combat videos. Watch build videos. Read the forums. Learn the game mechanics and how skills synergies and work together!

That said for end game purposes...just about any class can be very effective in the right hands. The one thing I would suggest you do consider is the race you choose. If you think your going to want to go stamina choose a race that has passive that support stamina and vice versa for magicka. Imperial is good for just about everything. That said Breton is a magicka based race. If your thinking about going stamina you should consider redguard bosmer imperial or even Orc.

As far as the class style...I can't speak to Templar as I don't play one. I main a magicka dk. Dks in pve are top of the food chain for dips and ,are arguably the best tanks in the game. Stam Dks in Pvp are very strong. Magicka Dks in Pvp are a tricky class to play but can be used very effectively. They lack burst dps and an execute so sometimes you need to get a little creative but they have a lot of unique skills that all synergize really well together

I think I'll just level, experiment things and let the builds for later.

As a DK, try to level at least the trees from your class and at least other 4 weapon specialties (I start with bow/destro staff since distance is the best dmg mitigation you can get in first levels) Remember that to level a skill line, one of the skills must be in your skills bar even if you don't use it.

A good start with a DK (till level 15) could be:

    1- Chains
    2- spiked armor
    3- stonefist
    4- twin slashes
5- any random second skill from the class tree you want to level up faster (Searing strike, talons or molten weapons) or the second skill from the weapon tree you want to level up (for example rapid strikes in this case)

Do not put skill points in passives yet and try to wear the 3 types of armor ti level up them faster (ideally with the training trait, same as the weapon), so, once you get to the second zone in your alliance map, you can respec at a lower cost.

Once you reach level 40, you can make the build you want. Remember that at that level you can do undaunted pledges which will help you to have an idea on what to wear for PVE. For PvP, it is quite the same but only from VR1
Sarcasm is something too serious to be taken lightly

I was in the wrong place at the wrong time
For the wrong reason and the wrong rhyme
On the wrong day of the wrong week
Used the wrong method with the wrong technique

Just so you know, right now Stamina DK is the strongest class.

if racial passives are important to you, then going magicka dragonknight is the way to go; I don't know if I agree that stamina DK is strongest class right now, but it is definitely very good. I posted the question last week about stamina or magicka DK when starting out and the responses heavily favored magicka. I recently started a dunmner dragonknight, currently playing with a magicka build and having fun with it, however the reason I chose Dunmer is for the racial passives later on and it's one of the few races where I am able to switch to stamina if I want too. Searing strike and fiery breath both have stamina morphs for a stamina build. Here is a good stamina dragonknight guide I like: http://deltiasgaming.com/2015/03/08/the-bloody-butcher-dragonknight-dps-build-for-update-six/

You better stick to DK for now unless you want to be a portable medkit as a templar. Templars are having dark times nowadays.
You pretty much don't need a build while leveling to 50. Just do all faction locations and main quest, and you'll start to understand what is what and what you want.
Almost anything works in solo PVE for questing, so you can just experiment, learn how the things work.
And yeah, you better level up all your armor lines for the future build variability and class skills, and weapon skill lines for the weapons you want to use in future.

This build was the most interesting one to me I'm aiming for and looks like a lot of fun.
