My biggest worry is there will be nothing to do at endgame. ???

Currently End-Game is limited to just VR12-14 trials.
    • Aetherian Archive
    • Sanctum Ophidia
    • Hel Ra Citadel

A 4 man trial called Dragonstar Arena

And a single player trial called Maelstrom Arena

    Or you can PvP

You forgot that all the dungeons scale up to v16.

And especially need to mention veteran White-Gold Tower and Imperial City Prison, which drop good v16 sets and are not that easy according to some players :)

    I don't consider a dungeon end game.

It may be challenging content, but endgame to me is trials/raids.

PvP isn't end game either, because you can access it at lvl 10.

There were. Except that the Craglorn "raids" are no longer endgame. ZOS's new business model forces them to push out new endgame and conveniently not update old activities that used to be endgame.

Trials were fun for those that liked group PvE but its hard to find a group for them now because ZOS refuses to update the trials and gear to V16. Of course we are supposed to forget that the old trials and DSA ever existed and only care about Maelstom Arena and the new trial coming out.

And one day, those activities too will be dead zones as ZOS will only push the newest and greatest thing and use gated gear to force you to grind it.

This is the stripmining of endgame content.

I have to agree. Raids are endgame. New dungeons...I guess so...

What exactly is the difference between a "raid" and an eso dungeon?

To me the most end game is PvP because that's where you find enemies in golden legendary armor.

Elaborate. And why not pvp? Because it's accessible at lvl 10 and not at level cap? Trials are accessible at vr1, so?

What's the difference between trials and dungeons? I mean, vet DSA and vet MA are dungeons. Trials are only 12ppl dungeons, but you did include vet dsa and vet ma in end-game (even though they are accessible at vr1 as well).

Don't kill it for the new players.

The content's loot may no longer be viable, but the trial is still fun to complete.

and in MOST MMO's end-game is large group raids/trials/dungeons (NPC bashing)

Some people consider PvP end-game because they've completed all the other content and are stuck facing each other untill the new "end-game" is released.

I refuse to lie to new players who are considering investing their precious time and money in this game by telling them that ESO has a healthy endgame.

ZOS's new business model does not promote a healthy endgame. It promotes temporary content that people farm for gear, then move on to new content (via DLC) when the old content is never updated.

The imperial city is dead now that everyone got all their gear. Trials and DSA are dead because ZOS refuses to update to V16. People are now farming Maelstrom arena but one day, that will be dead when ZOS ends vet levels (but creates all new gear with a Champion Point level lock instead of a Veteran Level lock.

This is troubling, but to be fair, isn't that what WoW does too? Old areas become outdated as new stuff gets released?

Well, you want to have CP 501, you basically get CP from everything you do, I dont know how long it takes now after it was made easier, but I suppose 200 hour or so, after CP 501, you can spend a few week getting Monster Sets etc.

That is correct. If you are OK with the traditional MMO boom and bust cycle then perhaps this wont bother you.
However, until the thieves guild content comes out, there currently is NO group based endgame raids that give you endgame gear. Trials and DSA (Dragon Star Arena) are all VR12-14 and ZOS decided to raise level cap to V16 against the will of everyone and amid numerous protests. They raised the level of undaunted dungeons and could do so for Trials/DSA but they have a monetary reason not to.

The only downside for endgame PvE raiders is that you have to wait for months for new content while perfectly good old content is made intentionally unplayable for marketing hype. If people put up with that in WOW and are OK that MMOs do that, then fine. I feel it is shameful and hurts the game in the long run.

This is the NEW ZOS business model. It may be standard for other MMOs but it wasn't always this way for this game.
    • Raise level cap (or gear gate)
    • Release New DLC
    • Make new DLC the best place to get XP and new gear.
    • Everyone grinds new DLC to replace their old gear
    • Raise level cap (or gear gate)
    • Release New DLC..

Before anyone tries to pettifog by bringing up that ZOS has said they will never raise Vet levels again, they have also said they will use CP or have some other gear gate mechanic that restricts gear. The new endgame level, whatever it will be, will probably have new gear and you will have to get that gear (mainly) from the DLC.

I think that endgame is a rather diffuse concept. For me it is content that that requires high quallity gear and a wellorganized groups. I think that some vet dungeons, like the two in IC and the trials qualifies. I also count pvp to it. One can do pvp on low level, but to be sucessfull one need a group with good organization and a good leaders.

They have said that they will upgrade weekly trial rewards to V16. I hope they upgrade the dropped gear to v14 like they did with the dungeon sets.
