This is probably never going to be in the game, but it would be totally badass if it was.

Basically, a passive would be available to those who had maxed both Two-Handed, Dual Wield AND One hand and shield.

It would allow you to wield two handed melee weapons (so no bows) with a single hand. Basically, this'd allow someone to charge at you wielding two greatswords...or possibly two battleaxes.

While doing this, you'd be able to use active abilities from two-handed AND dual wield (if using two weapons) or one hand and shield (if wielding a greatsword and a shield).

Just an idea. Not saying it should be in the game, just saying it'd be cool if it was.

Sorry but no. This is not Dark Souls and as DS2 has show there ultra greatswords plus a greatshield = OP.

Greatswords are classified as 2 handed swords. Key word 2 handed yes possible to wield one handed but not as effective or powerful. Other weapons classified as greatsword or 2 handed are long swords (yes some long swords can be classified as a 2 handed sword due to some having a handle that can be griped with 2 hands) the German Zweihander which translated to "two hander" or the Scottish claymore as seen used by William Wallis.

So yes can use them one handed and possible use with a shield but you will litterly loose half the power and with greatswords again litterly having double the reach of regular swords you be best off blocking with the blade and using the size to your advantage and able to reach them father.

WoW introduced this with the Wrath of the Lichking expansion in the warrior class . that talent made the fury spec overpowered beyond the broken rage gen formula . IMHO something like that is not needed and should never be implemented in this game .

just to be clear allowing the use of two-handed weapons as one-handed weapons is not needed and should not be put in the game .

I would however like to have the option for my character to sheathe 1h swords on his back. Not to be cool, just to avoid the weapons floating at my character's sides about a meter away from him when sheathed.

that would actually be a nice option to have for any weapon set up . I would prefer to have the weapons sheathed on the back of my characters as a matter of personnel aesthetics

Yeah, lets combine wrecking blow and puncture to wrecking puncture. Instant cast skill that inflicts major fracture, knockdown + 3 sec stun and deals as much damage as a normal wrecking blow.

Or heroic brawler: Cone attack, 8m radius, reduces movement speed by 60%, inflicts major maim, increases your ultimate gain, provides a damage shield for each target hit, does bleed damage.

Critical invasion: High damage charge ability, always deals critical damage, stuns target for 3 sec and reduces movement speed by 60% afterwards.

Or maybe we should just use our weapons as the blacksmith who created them intended.

Just to be absolutely 100% clear, I know this isn't going to be in the game. I'm just trying to discuss a hypothetical scenario with you guys.

do not worry most people who read your OP already figured that out . we are just pointing out where such game design choices where put in it ended up causing more balance issues then it is worth .

just a simple point is weapons designed to be wielded in two hands , while you can swing them with one hand , are also balanced to be swung with two hands . if you actually tried to swing a Scottish claymore with one hand at a target you would very quickly realize that you have very little control of that weapon when you swing it as compared to doing the same thing with two hands .

I know, which is why you'd need to be level 50 in all melee skill lines before you'd be able to do it. Some enemies can wield two handed weapons or spells with one hand, I'm saying it'd be kind of cool if we could do the same.

For those who want examples, here's a couple:

Jyggalag holds his sword with a single hand despite it being a two-handed weapon.
Zahkriisos (at least I think it's him. It's definitely a dragon priest) is capable of using Lightning Storm (two-handed spell) with one hand.

I get that the first is a daedric prince and the other is a dragon priest. Just a bit disappointed about them getting all the cool stuff and us not getting anything cool because "balance".

Wrecking puncture is just a stealthed Surprise Attack without the knockdown and a longer stun

Critical invasion is just using ambush with shadowy disguise

I was actually thinking that this could fit with the definitely-not-in-game idea of Racial Ultimates, where as a Nord you could do this for a very limited time.
I have departed into the great unknown that is outside the game and the forums, and wish you well in your Tamriel adventures!
