Eidetic Memory vs. Original Lore LIbrary *SPOILERS*

Hi there.... I just finished the Mage's Guild quest chain and got Shalidor's reward of this "eidetic memory" thing.
Can someone explain to me exactly what this does? From what I understand it allows access to books my character has already found in the game... but.... didn't I have access to this in the Lore LIbrary already?
What is different or better about the Eidetic Memory?

✭✭✭✭✭Lore Library shows you all the Blue Mage's Guild leveling books.
Eidetic Memory stores every book, note, tablet etc. in the game you have read. So you can go back and read anything in the game without needing the item at hand or going to the location.@Turelus - EU PC Megaserver

NP. There were some bugs in the past where some books were missing or not correctly added, I don't know if these were ever fully fixed as I didn't follow it in patch notes.
You can normally find books from instanced zones you can't go back to places around the areas near them though. For example if you go into a Fighters Guild you will see books and notes scattered around the place which were either quest items (as some of them you can actually read from your inventory) or books on the floor in those instances.@Turelus - EU PC Megaserver

✭✭✭✭✭You also get XP based upon how many books, notes, etc.. that you've read prior to receiving the Eidetic Memory. So if you finish the Mages Guild final quest early, you'll miss out on more XP. On this play through with my newest character, I'm waiting until I finish all leveling zones before completing the quest.
It is also annoying that after you receive the Eidetic Memory, every book or note you read, now gives off the "Lorebook" chime sound, even if it isn't one of the Mages Guild Lorebooks.
