Missed the sale!

Logged in today with the intention of buying a bunch of crowns. Disappointed to see i missed the sale. I thought the email I got said today was the last day and was frustrated when I re-read it to find that the wording is actually "until Tuesday December 1st".

I realize this is my own fault, but I do sometimes find the way ESO words dates to be misleading. It would have been more clear, to me at least, if it had said "Sale ends after November 30th" or "Sale is through November 30th". For some reason when you list December 1st as the day things are no longer on sale thats the day that sticks into my head and I think thats my last chance to get in on the sale.

Was going to waste a bunch of crowns on bank and bags... oh well, guess i'll have to do it with in game gold the long way. I will read better next time.

What platform are you on? For XB, the sale ended 11/30. For PC and PS4, it ends December 1.

However, I just checked the PC Crown Store, and the Crown packs are no longer on sale. I would think that ending December 1 meant 11:59pm tonight (and November 30 meant 11:59pm on the 30th). But, apparently, that's not the case, and I agree that more clarity would have been helpful.

I thought the same. To me, when a sale is advertised as "til" a certain date, that means that INCLUDES that date.

I'm super disappointed. Hope ZOS makes this right, or at the very least, is clearer in the future for their promotions.

It was available until 10:00 EST today, December 1. (per maintenance notice at the top of the forum)

That is what they meant by "until December 1". It is consistent with previous offers and sales, which have also ended in the morning (Eastern Time Zone) on the last day. In the future, I would consider "waiting until the last minute" to be the day before the offer ends.

The problem is, they didn't put that kind of language in the promotional emails they sent out. I didn't miss out, since I purchased early, but I still think they should have been clearer in their email promotions.

I see in the website announcement, that they did make this clear for the Black Fredas special, but not for the Crown pack sale. I wish they would be consistent in their messaging across all mediums.

Me too. I hope this doesn't happen again. I will try to be a better reader and try to be in on a sale before the final day, but my work schedule doesn't always allow for that.

You aren't wrong. And I did say this was my own fault for waiting till the last minute. Part of that is (as a 911 dispatcher) I work incredibly long and often inconvenient hours and being on the west coast instead of the east coast doesn't help matters much either. I was going off the email that was sent to me and that wasn't as clear as the maintenance notice on the forums. Not everyone spends lots of time on the forums (which is why they use other means of communication to begin with) so it would be useful in the future if they are consistent in all their communications. Thats all I want, to open an email and not think "well I better go check the forums, and reddit and the last twitch episode and the in game crown store pop up and twitter and ask my guild mates to make sure I have all the correct info."

It's cool though. Crown store is just convenience. I'll keep plugging away with out it for now and wait till the next sale. Cheers!

I won't argue that they need to be more clear.

They are rarely crystal clear in what they communicate. There is always some obvious-to-them assumption that they fail to mention that makes everything suddenly make sense.

In the case of sales, it is clear that the unstated assumption is always that things end with some sort of maintenance event. This could be announced or unannounced. In the case of the most recent sale, the maintenance was announced, even if the end of the sale was not. With all sales and special offers, if it matters, do not wait until the last day.

I agree with that as regards the Black Fredas sale, but the Crown pack sale is different in that it ended a day early on the XB and Crowns are not purchased through the game, but rather on their website or via the XB/PS stores. So, these don't require maintenance to change the prices/end a sale.

Well, with regards to XBOX and PS4, the unstated assumption is that ZOS does not control those stores. Those stores are controlled by Microsoft and Sony.

@WhiskeyRiver.AZub17_ESO - When I logged in to buy it wasn't giving me the sale prices. It was back to the original price. I wouldn't have posted anything had that not been the case.

The exact same thing happened to me. I was prepared to buy crowns for an alt account but was zinged by the misleading wording. No way am I paying full price for that stuff. Guess we'll have to wait for the NEXT sale but it would be nice if ZOS would simply state the exact dates the sale will be running on in future.

I agree they could have been much clearer. Part of the reason I bought them on the first day was I couldn't tell if the end date was the 30th or the 1st (in fact I think the first announcement I saw didn't have an end date). I was lucky in that I was actually able to do that, it sucks for people who didn't have that option.

This is the most level headed "I missed the sale" post ever.

I have been around long enough that I have learned that the sales end at 10am EST (or whenever maintenance starts if it's a maintenance day), but I can understand how some people may not have known this. I think it would be a fantastic idea if they could state the time at which the sale ends on all media that they advertise the sale on.

Ha ha. Thanks. I try to be calm about things as much as possible. I do understand in a company like this there are a lot of moving parts and it can at times be difficult to make sure everyone and everything is on the same page. In no way does me missing this sale discolor my love of this game or make me mad or angry in anyway. I just hope maybe someone up top sees a this post and tries to improve this one small aspect of their sale's efforts. If not, well, then I've learned a few things an will be better prepared the next go round.

    Thanks everyone
