Has anybody else realized they are taking fire damage on the first boss, after she locks you? I have never had it happen to me? Usually you have like 10-15 seconds to unlock it before the damage starts. Is this a bug, a change in the mechanics or what? Any input is useful, thanks.

I've not noticed that, but I had it once, that I got 1 shotted in the cage before the option to lockpick appeared.. :(

They changed it lately, but noone knows if it was intentionally or not. At the same point they changed the mechanics why will get in the cage (now it can also happen to the tank). With the force lock passive you should still be able to get out before taking noticable damage. If you don't have that passive you will probably need to get healed while lock picking.

It has been this way since the last patch. I believe it's intended, as is the fact that now a random player gets caged rather than the one standing furthest away from the boss.

Several ways to deal with this fire damage: everyone level their Legerdemain to force the lock on the cage (usually you're out in 1/2 second if you force it); healer heals through damage while caged person picks the lock; if healer is caged, he keeps healing and someone else picks the lock.

It was like that when IC released iirc, then they broke it, and now they have fixed it.

I can't remember if it was like that on release, but it definitely worked like this on PTS.

Option 3, make sure your dds and healer are magicka nbs and templars. Everyone heals themselves with an occasional BoL for the tank.

Wait nvm. According to the forums stamina is OP so you can't do that because you would lose out on too much dps :D

How was I trolling? If you don't have ledgerdemain leveled, running with 2 magicka nb's and 1 templar makes the fight easy. The funnel health healing alone will mitigate the damage. Not conjecture, this is what I did for most of the day yesterday(with only one nb instead of two).

Usually there's fire aoe on the floor of the cage.

It really helps to have the rank 4 Force Lock passive from Legerdemain. Why fiddle around with lockpicks if you can open locks with a push of a button?

On the PTS you took damage immediately as you entered the cage. Then they broke the mechanic when IC was released. Now it seems they've fixed it.

    1. Your solution doesn't work if the dd is caged. Magicka DD can't self-heal AND pick a lock.
    2. Your second sentence is uncalled for and/or an attempt to detail derail the thread.

Thanks for reply everybody. I maybe should have said i am a console player. I run with the same group always, and we never have problems. We are all pushing 4k+ weapon/spell damage, and i, as a healer, couldnt run out of resources if i try. Just seem to always get bad luck or glitchy cages that dont show a "pick lock" option. Any tips on strats from any pc players that have had more time/ addons/ resources to be able to give me more insight?

    @daemonios

    1. That's why I said two magicka nb's...Even then, the tick from your own funnel health will be enough so you don't need two magicka nb's. If you take too long picking the lock a templar healer can pop bol. The templar gets pulled in funnel health spam will keep him up. I have farmed vWGT with my magicka nb about 10-15 times the past two days trying to help my healer get SPC. The only time we ever died on the adjudicator was not dodging the move where she throws out hands. Nobody died in the cage.

    2. I was just stating facts.

You have to force the lock unless you're a sorc. 20k shield is enough cushion to actually pick the lock assuming you're not the healer.

    .
be shure to put all your CP in elemental defense. Not nessecary but it helps. Use nirnhoned defense trait or whatever. There are lots of options.

Any magicka class can put up a 20k magic shield.

Just get your healer to focus the stamina DD and in case of need let the tank drag The Boss towards that cage so healer can do what he always does.

Healer can also use alliance war ult to shield you with 20k.

This Boss is really not that hard. Just know The mechanics there are seriously so many ways to do this a good magicka DD can even take over The healing when healer gets caged.
