Should I Return?

Hey.

I stopped playing ESO a couple of days after Imperial City released, I just felt... Done with it and didn't really have much motivation to play other than doing my Crafting Writs and getting my Hirelings. I have over 1000 hours of the game and I remember loving it over the past 2 years ish. I just don't really know if I'm missing anything major or should wait until the next couple of DLC's are released such as the Thieves Guild or Murkmire. I'm still paying ESO plus because I want to continue supporting the game but I just don't know if I should return?

i am in the same boat as you OP.

i stopped playing 4 months ago , i am behind on downloading the last three updates or so.... just nothing appeals to me yet but i keep watching....

i am into other games at the moment and they are holding my attention as of now.. if you dont have any other games to try i would say give it another go....but thats your call really.

for me i am waiting for some major changes.

I don't understand why you would pay a subscription to a game that you have to ask if you should return to. In my opinion, the whole reason that changes for the better don't occur is because there are too many people willing to pay for a game despite that games many screw ups and flaws. And no, there isn't much going on in game at the moment.

That all depends on the niche you like to fill in this game. Some people play pvp and pvp only some people inversely play only pve. Other, like myself do both and have specific toons for that.

To come back for pvp:

I have a troubling time coming up with reason to convince you to come back for pvp. It really takes persistence to have fun in pvp.
The sewers and IC are dead, all you'll find there are a few people grinding TV. Killing them brings little fun and you end just erping with them out of boredom because they're the only people you see.
Cyrodill is pretty much the same lag/ zerg fest if youre on a populated server but there are glorious exception. Those few times you go into say Had or something (when it has people there) and its you and four friends against like 10 people who arent ball grouping it up you stand at least a little chance and have the potential to have a great time. If you allow for them, your group could even come up to another group of four and have a nice little 4v4 which is what have the most fun doing.
PVP is pretty much the same, but if you look hard enough youll have the most fun youll ever have.

To come back for pve

I love pve as much as i love pvp. With the arrival of vet Maelstrom Arena the game brought some thing that was time heavy but not preparation heavy meaning you dont have to wait to get a healer tank or dps. You are ready when YOU are ready. You get to blast your music very loud have have at it! Whether or not you complete youll still be getting gear youll never use or even be able to sell. But at least youd have attempted the hardest content in the game atm. For group pve the trials are pretty much dead. At least, there is no point to do them. I was still able to get into a group for a hardmode AA. You just need to know the right people which isnt the hardest thing to do.
The other solo stuff in Wrothgar is alright its hilariously easy but thats just how it is for open world content.

I suppose my views are biased but thats what i feel it is now. For me the value lies whether or not you have fun. I have tons of fun playing this game. But you could also easily have tons of fun playing fallout gta or anything really.

I thought about returning. I re-downloaded the game, hopped on some TS servers, and ran around for a while. I came back, but left after two days for the following reasons:

1. PvP is still laggy (somewhat worse now to hear some tell it)
2. PvE still suffers from random traits on weapon/armor drops.
3. PvP suffers from some serious class imbalance.
4. Combat-breaking bugs that were still present at IC's inception are still around today.
5. Most of your friends, guildmates, and experienced players have already left the game.

Have you tried playing Orsinium yet? Might as well take advantage of your continued subscription!

Also Thieves Guild is next and I think they may be doing Dark Brotherhood after that but not sure.

I returned after not playing for a couple months. Since imperial/Wrothgars release I'm just as addicted as I was when I had just started out. Major improvements, more incentive to play, awesome new gear I'm hooked again. Been playing daily for almost 2 months again

If you like the solo experience in ESO, then by all means come back. Its at its height. If you like group content in PVE or PVP then steer clear. PVP is still a disaster as noted about and PVE has been dead since V16. There are no PVE guilds cause there's simply no group PVE to do.

That's about as simple and honest as it can get.

I you enjoy stories, quest and immersion Orsinium is the best content develloped by Zenimax at this day.
The story is amazing, the landscape are gorgeous, the NPC are great and well voice acted.

For everything else it all depend what kind of player you are and what you do enjoy. There is a lot of players that are actually enjoying themselves a lot EVEN in PVP and PVE. (they are generally not coming on forums though)

I literally did the same thing I stopped until this dlc came out then came back I got to say it brought a lot more then solo story quest the arena on normal is fun you get drops its great the public dungeon can be farmed with ease cuss there huge and awsm looking the new daily quest bring 2 if not more quest a day if you have friend to share with for some pretty awsm loot im going for a set from there myself not to mention the new motif drop from the pledges chest makes doing dungeon again fun and awsm with the new grouping tool to!

As @Elloa said, give Orsinium a shot. If you're an ESO Plus member it will be sitting there waiting for you to enjoy it for free. You never know, it may rekindle your enjoyment for the game. It's truly some amazing content, and a lot of new stuff too. To me, it felt like an entirely different game.

OP if you played the game for PVP.. stay away until they fix the god damn awful lag that is plaguing the game. It's worse than it has ever been.

Spell Breaker, Trueflame and Blackwater didn't seem too bad to me, particularly Blackwater. Azuras is pretty much unplayable. Spent 5 minutes in there last night and it was like a slideshow. People were teleporting all over the place, and it has been like that since the first time I joined. It's horrible.

the game is the exact same as of when you left except from a new solo arena and area, if you like solo play yes come back but if you like group play wait until the next dlc there will be a new trial.

As for pvp it's so bad lag because everyone plays on one campaign and the rest of the campaigns are just pve IC grind campaigns EU, so if you're thinking of coming back for the pvp don't you've got yourself out don't come back and get hooked again because it'll just frustrate you.
