What will be the point of leveling?

I am a bit confused with all the plans to remove the veteran system, the champion point catch up system and the battle leveling for the DLCs , current and future. Since our gear gets leveled up too what exactly will be the point of leveling up characters? I know they will be stronger with more champion points but since they are shared across the account why level new characters beyond what you need to get the desired skills?

There is more than one way to progress a character. XP is used to level skill lines and champion points. The removal of the vet ranks might come with the inclusion of new skill lines. Who knows. We don't have enough info right now to come up with any idea of what a world without vet ranks will look like. Many are assuming that they will simply go poof and be removed without anything else being changed or added but I feel that will probably not be the case. As far as I know, there has been no official word on what will happen to all of our vet level gear. All just speculation right now.

Well it helps my OCD if I level all my characters up too 50 (proposed new max rank) also makes it easier for me to find people who wanna run trials & dungeons with me if I'm max rank.

Gear doesn't level up to the exact equivalent of the gear at that actual level. ie: being battle levelled to VR16 is not the same stat-wise as actually being VR16. Additionally there's attribute points to factor in, which now directly impact how you're battle levelled. Also there's the matter of levelling skills and skill morphs.

Then of course there's the fact that this is a game. By playing the game you'll level anyway, it's kind of the point until you reach cap.

One more to add - it helps teach you how to play your class.
