Crown Sale Damaging Subscription?

I'm thinking of cancelling my Eso plus subscription. Thinking about it, I can buy 11,000 crowns in the sale for £28.

That's enough to buy outright IC, Orsinium and the upcoming Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. That content should effectively take me up to the middle of next year - or £70 in subscription fees.

Therefore, it makes more sense to buy lots of crowns in the store today and give up on the subscription. Or am I missing something?

There are other benefits to subscribing like faster research times, more gold, more XP and just knowing that you are supporting the game on a monthly basis.

I've bought a ton of crowns but continue to subscribe. It's not a lot of money, gives me benefits and helps pay the salary of great ZOS employees.

Well that's the intention of zynemax, instant cash now and not in long term.

For you, you think you win and they lose, but not. This is like an injection of cash for them.

Well, for some yes, but some people may also buy alot of crowns and spend them all on stuff more or less immediately.

For these the subscription might still be quite a valid way to get content.

I am supporting the game if I buy 11,000 crowns. Not worried about the XP as it's only 10%.

Dont you get 1.5k crowns a month with a sub? So thats 9k crowns + access to all DLCs.
P2P offered you 'hell yeah!' moments. F2P offers you 'thank god its over' moments.

indeed, more is going on than just this sale. The BIG cash injection/turn over for this quarter before the board and CEOs make their decisions about spending and budgets next year will pay for itself long term. Well its a gamble but should pay for itself if its makes the game look like a chicken laying golden eggs to the up tops.

Loyalty rewards. Imagine they release polar bear mount for loyal, long time subscribers and you sit on pile of crowns with no subscription. You would be totally screwed!!!

The guy who came up with discount on crowns definitely deserves his salary. Just think about it. There is the cash shop, but the only thing ZOS gets money from is actually the crowns that can be spent there. They can drive demand for crowns by e.g. putting out DLC or at least repainting some mount. Or, they can simply make crowns cheaper with no effort whatsoever. Brilliant.

The 'great ZOS employees' are surely not in the QA team.

Have we had any loyalty rewards to date? I haven't seen any, but I have only been here 4 months or so

Under the subscription model we had loyalty rewards, dwemer centurion, ice wraith, sheo's mask (that was the 9monther right?) and the stripped senche mount. I may have missed a reward or two. However, the loyalty rewards concept has been shelved since the b2p transition and I really doubt it'll return.
