best place is Hallow City in Cold harbor, when orsinium came out and all the grinders where occupied for a little bit. my flower profit was 140 in mather of few hours time (when I say profit 140, its columbine, bugloss and mountainflower)

when I go grind for tempers I also had a steady but slower supply coming in from craglorn like 10/30 a day

I find columbine quite often, but I have the keen eyes passive for alchemy ingredients, this helps a lot. If you have trouble to spot ingredient plants I would suggest to put 1 perk point into that passive, especially if you have your graphics at max you might have a harder time to spot Columbine in grassy landscapes, but it grows in semi-desert areas like Stros M'Kai as well, so even newbies have easy access to this plant in DC.

    Edit:

If you never have seen what that keen eyes passive does - if you get in the range of an ingredient it gets some smoke on top of it and it lights up - so it is especially easy to farm at night - you just run around and wherever something is suddenly lighting up, you go and get it. Worth a perk point IMO.

I will also add to this that there are a lot of flowers that folks pass by that are very useful. I always find it funny when someone runs in front of me to get one of the big three when I was going after the one they left behind.

Do some experimenting, there are some very useful combinations that also bring a pretty penny in guild stores.

think: Health + Build Attribute + Crit or Build Attribute + Power + Crit or anything else you can experiment with that is useful for your build.

Sometimes other combinations do you're build more justice than the Tri-pot.

From my experience. there are four types of harvesting nodes for alchemy: Mushroom nodes, nirnroot nodes, water hyacinth nodes, and the rest.

Mushroom nodes only spawn mushrooms, nirn and hyacint only spawn their respective plant, and the final type can contain any of the remaining flowers.

So basically, anywhere you see a lady's smock, wormwood, bugloss, mountain flower etc. etc, there could be a columbine spawned next time you pass by, provided you or someone else picked up the flower currently blocking the node and gave it a chance to respawn.

Morale of the story: pick up all flowers you come across. If you only pick the good flowers and let the bad ones there blocking the node, there will be less and less good flowers to pick.

Yep. Except Nirnroot and Water Hyacinth also share a node. If you find any of the following, mark its location (or, if you're on PC, get Harvest Map to do it for you), because one of the others in the list may be there next time.

    Flower Nodes
    Blessed Thistle
    Bugloss
    Columbine
    Corn Flower
    Dragonthorn
    Lady's Smock
    Mountain Flower
    Wormwood

    Mushroom Nodes
    Blue Entoloma
    Emetic Russula
    Imp Stool
    Luminous Russula
    Namira's Rot
    Stinkhorn
    Violet Coprinus
    White Cap

    Water Plant Nodes
    Nirnroot
    Water Hyacinth

I believe Columbine is in Colorado somewhere.

Wasn't there some famous shooting there, with Micheal Moore or something?

You guys took my witty response.
Michael Moore was neither a victim or a perpetrator of the Columbine shooting. He is a filmmaker who makes documentary films with a left-wing agenda. "Bowling For Columbine" is a documentary with a slant against American's right to firearm ownership.

I've got a ton of columbine because I pick up pretty much anything but I don't really spend much time levelling up my alchemy.

Probably a noob question, but why is columbine so sought after? Is it for the healing properties?

Columbine is the primary ingredient in the restoration tri-pot, as it's the only reagent which restores all three attributes.

Columbine is the primary ingredient in the restoration tri-pot, as it's the only reagent which restores all three attributes.

It's also the only ingredient that can make immovable + 2 stats potions. THE potion for PvP, or for nearly everything, imho. In PvE people might prefer spell-weapon power / crit / stat pots, but for PvP the immovable is great.

Long story short : columbine is pretty rare as compared to other plants, AND necessary for all the most useful potions. The two factors combined...

Go do those alchemy writ surveys you get from tuned-in writs. There is sometimes lush Columbine at those survey locales.

Also, be sure the plentiful harvest passive is active (constellation: Lover) in your champion point allocation.

This. If you ride your horse everywhere to get to places faster its much easier to miss ingredients along the way. I almost never ride my horse outside of big cities.

Gamblers call this the "rule of the third" - 1/3 will be significantly more often be found, 1/3 about average and 1/3 will be significantly less often be found.

Now, if you happen to look for the significantly higher chance stuff, you will end your search rather quickly. But if you happen to look for the significantly less chance stuff, you will search for a much longer time. So overall this creates the impression you are getting, that most of the time you look for stuff, which you find the least of. Pretty simple exaplaination, isn't it?

Yeah, because everyone else is looking for it too, and it's already gone. Then people just leave one of the less-popular flowers which grows in its place, and it takes ages for someone to actually pick that one to clear the node. I think that every flower has an equal chance (12.5%) of spawning, but in practice you see the less popular ones more often because no-one ever picks them, which means the node can't refresh with something else.

This is why I pick everything and loot all backpacks even if they contain rubbish - because they'll respawn and maybe someone else will get something better (or I will next time I pass it).
