I'm pretty sure most of you who got the rings of Mara can safely say that they're pretty much useless after a while because it forces you to marry another player and not an NPC. Even if you are couples in real life and you want to be in the game aswell still it wont work because you have to play together all the time, maybe some time one of you wants to take a break and go rest, or has a job that must attend to, or wants to go to reddit and type stupid stuff that noone will see but the other one who keeps playing looses the bonuses.
The normal system should pretty much be the same as Skyrim's setup, where you'd have the option to gift Npc's items, build a relationship, and once they were married, you could have them tag along as traveling companions who fight, or even loot dead bodies for you, doesn't have to be anything over the top really.I'd love to see NPC marriages make it's way into ESO, doesn't have to be anything dire, or drastic, like having an overpowered companion, but I'd definitely feel more at ease say in solo instances if I could have a sub-par NPC companion who could maybe assist.
I also understand that having someone to help you isnt really required since you can solo most of the game but its still a great boost for some hard moments *cough* Claglorn *cough*, especially when you are cloth ranged wearer and you need someone in front, or the opposite when you are attacking enemys straight and you need someone to support you right now i feel that the marriage system and rings of mara are completely a waste because 2 people just cant have the exactly same hours that they play.
