What is the purpose of potions?(Xbox One)

If when I use them during battle my resources don't move at all. I'm not even talking about health, I use tri-stat pots and every time I use one when I really need it, it gives me NOTHING. Why bother making them?

Unless you are experiencing a bug then you must be doing something wrong. What level are the potions? Are you in PvP or PvE (potions do level in PvP) the tooltip should show the exact amount of return, what's the numbers on your potion?
All my potions have functioned properly giving me at least 1/3rd bar return0 -

✭✭Hm, usually potions are a great help. Tri stat potions should provide you a noticable amount of all 3 ressources and additionally increase all your recoveries by 20%.
Are you sure that you are using potions that fit to your level?
If so, this might be a bug. Then you could try if just tri pots don't work for you or if it also affects other potions. That might help to determine what causes the bug.0 -
Speely✭✭✭✭I came into this thread thinking it was a "why do we even need potions? They are just a needless addition included because of Elder Scrolls tradition" thread. And I was on board. However, this sounds like a bug for sure, either in the actual values OR the UI update. It could be either. Have you checked it outside of battle via the character screen? Sometimes there are disparities between what the UI updates and what is actually happening with the numbers.0 -

When in battle, if you hear the sound...it doesn't mean that you actually used a potion.
They only work in between actions. Stand still and wait after having attacked or casting for 1-2 secs and then drink a level appropriate potion. At level or close, you'll see a noticeable jump in life, magic or stamina.-PC (PTS)/Xbox One: NewBlacksmurf
