Don't use any heavy armor as 7 light and hardened ward is better
Yeh, I love hardened ward on my templar.
Just wish my sorc had that skill...
The good news, is when you find a grind spot, grinding with a templar is a million times easier than any other class. Round them up, sweep away.
Don't feel too bad about people going down in dungeons. It's not oftentimes healers fault. Dps often get channel vision (it's happened to me before) so forget to shield or get caught in aoes.
Get researching light armor as soon as possible. Seducer at 3 traits and magnus at 4 are great for levelling as you can upgrade whenever you like.
1. You are making a HUGE mistake if you grind to level up. Take your time and ENJOY THE STORY. This is NOT WOW, this game is gorgeous and has a good story line, and one in each zone. You will level just fine doing the quests in each zone and running the dungeons.
2. Healing is fun in this game and here are a couple of tips. Be an Altmer or Bretton, they have good passives for healing. At low levels just try to get as much gear with magicka and magicka cost reduction or Magicka recovery. Use Healing Springs and rapid regeneration/mutagen as much as you can to save magicka over breath of life. Once you get points into light armor and racials you will be able to use BOL more frequently. USE your resto heavy attack to get mana back as much as you possibly need to and BOL when needed.
What about running dungeons? Does that not give a lot of xp?
Although it's been nerfed slightly running through dungeons with a skilled group and completing the quest in each dungeon is still heavily recommended. You gain at least half a level, receive awesome blue/purple equipment and receive a skill point. Each dungeon can be completed within an hour.
Ignore everyone who's yelling at you to quest up. If you really want to get to veteran ranks then grind and do only the Main, Fighter's, and Mages' Guild quests since those scale to level and give good exp.
Even when you hit Cadwell's Silver and Gold you can ignore the majority of the quests and just do the ones in Cadwell's Almanac.
One thing I WOULD recommend though, is going through and clearing every world boss, dark anchor, and dungeon in each zone, as well as collecting the Skyshards, since you'll need a ton of Skill Points.
