Is impenetrable gear for pvp still a thing?

I am a bit confused. So maybe someone can help me out.
In the past impenetrable gear for pvp was really important, like in patch 1.4. Then at some point there seemed to have been a shift away from impen to different traits.

I mean all the best medium pvp gear dropped in well fitted, then IC came out and you could buy the new sets with tv stones in impenetrable, but most people i know decided to open the lucky boxes to get traits like divines and infused.
I mean , this is important in pvp , to min max your gear, right ?

Now we have the cp system as well, and you can put points into resistant, but @Etaniel mentions in his build vid you should not put too many in (he put 10 in for 5% ) because it also affects your own crit healing negatively

I just made new pvp gear, all legendary, chest heavy reinforced, legs and head infused (for the prismatic glyphs to have more effect) , small pieces divines for more spellpower so i can actually kill things

When i die in pvp it is normally because a zerg runs over me, not because someone crits on me. But i like to understand this topic better so i decided to make this post.
thank you

I'm interested in answers regarding this topic as well. Now that lots of ppl are chasing Briaheart set, we might also see increase of high crit builds out there.

I'm not the best with numbers, but I know in PvP stacking impen and maxing out crit reduction in the CP tree is extremely strong. It will reduce crit damage so crit attacks are reduced so much that crits do almost the exact same damage as a normal attack.
Not all, but most magika/stamina builds in PvP now push 40-50% crit chance. Because of this, If you're not running a build that uses shields, then maxing crit reduction will be very strong for you.

    thank you

Somebody told me the CP passive resistant no longer negatively affects your healing, needs confirming though.
I think in 1.5 crit builds were very popular because they allowed to build ultimate faster, and when that went away, they weren't as sexy anymore.

with the last changes what's strong in PvE is zerg material strong for PvP since these and stuns are the current PvP meta (and it being pretty much dead for that), divines on everything is the mini-max fad of the day (use some infused on the large parts if you must)

Impenetrable works well if you are tanky and focus other stats towards it. However due to everything being impenetrable with IC and the -50% dmg people started maxing out their base damage, not the crit, in which case impenetrable is not so effective.
