Eso NA and EU are Diffrent acounts WHAT?!

So in decemeber last year i moved to the NA server from EU. They couldnt transfare my charcter which was a really pain in the back side but i guess i can let that slide (thou they did send me email saying its impossible... right just when you made people pay to transfate to console).

I recently went back to EU to how server is doing compared to NA. Im suprised bigger population, more scores on the boards, more talks in chat, more pvp servers. I was impressed. Thou i ran into a really Odd thing when i opened my crown store iteams in collections... All things i paid for was not there, so i thought must be bug THOU i did relog and checked the store i had same amount crowns as my NA acount... yet i had to pay for everything again? all mounts, costumes, pets, dlc?? IM SORRY WHAT!?...

Then i log on to main charcter vet 14 and my CP is like 90.... yet on NA its at the cap thats kinda understandable but what the hell? zenimax wants me to do everything all over again why?!.. if you can transfare crown store iteams, CP, charcters, iteams ETC to the console? ... then why cant you on PC?... so i sent a email about it explaining if this could be fixed in anyway... -.- i felt insulted first time when they said "make sure you log into the right server"... WOW dat customer support ZENI... i explained what was going on n why i transfered n you reply that.. wow...NOT ok.

So reply back to them explaining again and telling them to read it carefully i get respose of:
"At this time, transferring costumes/pets/mounts from one server to another is not possible. You can, however, use costumes/pets/mount from one character to another, within the same server, by using the collection UI within the game."

See zenimax... im not stupid i know a lie when i see it and this right here is a lie.. if you can do it on consoles then why cant you do it on pc infact to add to that It would be 2x bloody harder for the transfer to consoles.

SO ENOUGH ranting sorry.... id like to know why do i have to pay for all this stuff again, why is CP diffrent and why cant you transfere between 2 servers... hell id pay! ill do bloody question sheets what ever... its just i dunno weird to me.

A cynical british person OUT!

I think a big part of the reason the account transfer to consoles was a one-off was because it's not an easy thing to do.

Yes it's annoying that crown store items don't carry other to the other server, but it's better than some games where you're simply tied to your server and either pay to transfer or can't transfer at all.

Um...they have no issue communicating with a central database to use our crowns on both servers...why should crown store purchases of non consumable items like costumes, mounts, DLC, ect be and different? I have characters on both servers and I feel like since they do use my crowns on both servers then any purchases of non consumable items should be on both servers.

Because they want more money -- so if we want something on both EU and NA server, we have to pay twice for it. I think that is theft.

Database integrity. Inserting a significant number of records from one database into another database in a single bulk transaction? If you've got an easy way to identify all of the records to be inserted (such as a field that can flag them), that's simple. Inserting a record here and there on an ad hoc basis? That's an incredibly manual process, and you run risks of not maintaining referential integrity etc.

Of course, if your systems are designed in such a way that there's a staging database that can be used to facilitate such record transfers on a certain schedule, wiping the staging database after the transfers are complete, it could be reasonably done. You'd probably want to have a flag for the records to be transferred and do it once a week or something, during server downtime. At that time you have a script copy all of the records with that flag set, insert them into staging, and unflag them in the DB they're coming from. Once you've got them in staging you run a script to ensure that those records don't already exist in the DB they're going to be inserted into, and if they do already exist then you delete the records in staging. In staging you then make sure that there are no integrity issues, and if there are you delete the records causing the problems. Then you run a script to copy those records from staging and insert them into the live DB they're going to. Theoretically you could do the same without using an intermediary staging environment, but I wouldn't want to risk it.

Edit: this is specifically referring to the transfer of characters etc from one server to another - for crown store purchases as they're already sending a transaction to another DB (in order to debit your crowns) I don't see why they couldn't include in that transaction the details of what item you're purchasing, and then the crown DB can send a transaction to the other server's DB to tell it that you purchased that item and have it show up on that server too.

I think at the very least DLCs should unlock on both servers. If I sub I can access the DLC on both servers but have to buy them twice if I don't sub?

You also have to take into account the business perspective. It costs money to localize, market, operate, support, and distribute the game in foreign lands. What some developers do is work with another party who takes on some or all of these costs. In return, they perhaps get a cut of the subscription, box sales, and so on. Not sure how ESO handles it abroad but this is pretty standard in the gaming world.

Interesting - I didn't even think of the potential cost-sharing/profit-sharing model. I was only thinking about it from a technical standpoint.

I like how people think they are separate. Yet when they have broken NA, the EU gets taken down with it. If I don't need to create another account and my left over crowns carry over but NA can take EU down. Why are simple account wide things still separate?

Why isn't there simple flags for total cp, collectables and crown store purchases?

Surely a few extra fields won't tax their system much. I guess it stems from one of the worst account management pages I have seen in an mmo.
I have no will left to help with lag until high action per minute devs play via a vpn from Asia or Oceania to NA and live stream thier experience of thier actions being declined by the server because they are out of frame.

I've had this same issue concerning loyalty rewards. I was subscribed since launch on PC and was rewarded a Tiger as a mount, however I only have it on my PC NA server and Console NA server that I transferred to. I feel that if its not something I bought but was rewarded with I should have access to it on any server I play on. In the end I just rarely play on EU, I've tried starting new characters over there but just can't get over losing my Tiger and having to ride a boring white horse.

Yeah, but I dont think it is possible to do the crowns thing.Wait though.I noticed when I went over to the EU server that my NA spent crowns were also s pent on that other server.I wondered why as I had nothing in the EU one.No horses,no costumes,or even the things in my bank.I just dont think it is possible to port what you bought in the crown store in one server into the other one is all I am saying.I understand what you mean.

Yeah the part that might suprise you thou is you still have same amount crowns on both servers. So all crowns you spent on NA... wont be on EU.

This is because the Crowns are stored on the Account database, while the purchases are stored on the Server. When you make a Crown Store purchase, you are already logged into the Server, so the purchase is attached to your record on that server. Crowns, on the other hand, are purchased from outside the server, and since you are logged into the Account database and not the Server when you buy Crowns, they are stored on the Account database. Membership of ESO Plus is something else that's stored on the Account rather than the Server, which is why ESO Plus members have access to DLC on both servers but Crown Store purchasers of the DLC only have access on one.

Not for me.I had already s pent my crowns in the NA server and had only a few left when I went into the EU server.
