Problems Leveling soul magic

I'm having trouble leveling soul magic. i have already morphed soul trap and used it in many quests and fights. but its not gaining any exp. messaged Zos and havent gotten any real response from them is anyone else having this kind of problem
Bring fourth the Four Horsemen and let the Apocalypse judge the wicked

ontheleftcoast✭✭✭✭✭You gain morphs/etc. from normal XP gain but you can only achieve higher ranks (up to 6) by completing the main quest. IIRC you unlock the last bit of it right before the fight with Molag Bal.

There are fewer ranks to the Soul Magic skill line than there are for any other skill line I can think of, and it advances only by completing chapters of the main questline.
