Is Inner Light Mandatory on Magicka DPS to obtain comparable TTK

I'm looking into swapping out Inner Light on my bars for Reaper's Mark and Blur. I feel like the assassination passives to related to crit will compensate for the loss of inner light and the debuff provided by reaper's mark will compensation for the loss to damage from the reduction of 8% max magicka. What are your thoughts?

As a Magblade, for PvE (group content) I run Inner Light, as I run two destro staves (single target bar, aoe bar).

For PvP (DW, Resto) I got too much other stuff to jam onto those bars to have a toggle like that on both bars.

My bars are Destro single target Crippling grasp, Merciless Resolve, Funnel Health, Structued Enthropy, Reapers Mark, Smiting Dawnbreaker

DW bar is far more flexible sometimes I run it with Dark Cloak, Concealed Weapon, Lotus Fan, Mass hysteria, Double Take, Soul harvest other times I run it with Siphoning Attacks, Sap Essence, Impale, Twisting Path, Double Take, Soul Harvest

What is the context here, as that would help greatly.

I'll leave PvP for others with more experience.

If group PvE - then no. The debuff should be provided elsewhere (typically the tank) and the crit dmg doesn't make up the difference for the huge magica loss.

If arena - then possibly - but it depends on your other bars and what potions. If you were using spell crit potions then the loss of the max magica (and regen - mage guild passives) is less of a dps loss than not running the debuff. Ideally, though, you'd find a way to run reapers mark + mage light as dropping either is a big DPS loss in arena. If you aren't running spell crit potions - then definitely no - not worth it.

Yes, it's pretty much mandatory in PvE for magicka dps and healing.

It's not a god idea in PvP. Using toggles means only 8 skills slots, which isn't enough for a well rounded PvP build.

Please dont listen to peasants telling you to run Radiant Magelight. You wont be able to make a good build without all 10 skills slots. It's actually more enjoyable to die from sneak attacks now and again, than just standing there like a fool without tools to deal with upfront situations. As magblade you also need at least 2+ utility skills to get cloak of.

I took it off today and ran around IC solo, it felt like my TTK was about the same. I might drop structured entropy for reapers mark but I really like having the empower passive might of the guild paired with dawnbreaker

I run inner light in both pvp and pve on my Magblade...

the additional 10% crit really does help kill enemies faster.....
together with Structured Entropy...

I don't.

I use crit pots instead for dungeons. Pretty much always got one up.

Leaves me with two extra slots.
