Will pvp ever be playable?

Bjarnidk

I'm a pvp player by heart and logging into ESO I was absolutely amazed. I loved playing through the first 10 levels but when I went to Cyrodiil where I assumed I would be spending most my time end-game, the glory of the game quickly faded.
I have more than enough horse power to run the game with steady FPS but in the big fights, I drop below 30 FPS. This is absolutely unacceptable for me (and I know some people play with less than 20 FPS, which I can't understand).

My question is; Will this game ever be playable for PVP players? I decided to unsubscribe until the game either has Directx12 or limits pvp. Obviously their hardware cannot handle hundreds of players fighting (not sure what they were thinking either).

What server are you in? If you are playing on non-vet characters, I have very few latency/FPS problems in BWB. It also might help to turn your graphic settings down when in Cyrodiil. I like to run custom setting somewhere between high and ultra when doing PVE, but I turn my graphics down to medium when I go into a PVP zone.

I'm not vet. I'm lvl 11. I think I'm in BWB but I can check. I've tried running the game with every graphic option available, also with .ini tweaks, overclocked hardware etc. etc. Issue seems to be server sided (it doesn't utilize 4 cores, only 2 and mainly runs on 1 core, that's why I wait for dx12).

I doubt there's any setting you can change on your end to fix it. I've even dropped my quality back on my £2k powerhouse gaming machine. It's an absolute joke.
The worst part is, it wasn't always this bad. It just seems to be getting worse.

I don't understand why they keep on insisting for hundreds of players to fight when they could just limit it and we'd still be happy?! At least make limited servers where such huge classes can not happen so your servers can handle the load?? Also make some more PVP (a true open world pvp would also be huge), at least some arena-mode too or something.

FPS is a major issue right now for everybody. It seems like the last patch reduced overall network latency but the side effect is less FPS.

This is most likely because the packets and server are sending and dealing with less information (to reduce lag) but because there is less information the game engine has to make up for it, and ESO just isn't very good at doing this.

It might get slightly better but it took almost 1 year to get to this point and it's far from being good, PvP has been in a bad state since 1.2, why this is the case, only the network and engine devs know, and they don't talk or exist anymore.

The numbers thing is always going to be there, but it’s more down to player skill and there are ways through ability choice to configure a group to be stronger vs. large groups of people. - BRAIN WHEELER - 2012 - LOL

It's not realistic to expect to see battles with 30+ OP players casting AoE spells from deep magicka pools and not see FPS drop on your midrange SLI setup.

There may be some improvements in performance that ZoS could make that would be marginal but this is a company with probably less than 50 employees trying to turn a profit on a massive and complex niche product. At some point you have to start accepting the game for what it is.

I PvP every night because it's extremely fun. To me that is playable. If you're not having fun and you say you are a diehard PvP'er then you definitely need to find a new game.

That sounds very disheartening. I really wish there would be some more aspects to pvp. If you're one of the people who don't mind 12 fps in battles, have a go, but for the rest of us who notice when your mouse starts skipping frames, we could do smaller scale battles and some more tactical PVP. Not saying add battlegrounds (eww) but ranked arena battles and perhaps ranked 5v5 small scale battlegrounds.

Ultimately adding a pvp server with real world pvp would obviously be the best.

I know the message wasn't directed towards me but I'm running 1x GTX 970, overclocked 4970K Devil's Canyon with 16 GB RAM and I'm having the same FPS as someone who spent half of what I did. The problem is with the game, not the setup.

Might want to check something else like your hardware, network connection, and maybe check your hardware again.

Also furthermore the problem is not the game its your hardware or Internet Provider.

That's just not true. Nobody I have EVER seen is running this game with over 60 FPS constantly in the large battles. NOBODY. And the game is not utilizing 50% of the CPU power and therefore bottlenecking hard.

When people say they have great FPS, they are so used to playing games around 40-60 FPS that they don't really notice it. Which is why these comments only come from people with low end rigs (such as yours).

Actually I noticed you suggest I check my network card for my FPS problem, didn't realize you were trolling. Touche.

That in itself is a problem for zos, not the customer. Why do people insist that it is other peoples hardware or ISP? This game should perform on Multiple ISP's and customer Hardware/platforms, not just a select few. IF your computer meets the requirements to play, then it is clearly their fault and a server side issue. They do not stipulate who you can and cannot use for ISP for the game to be operational or perform as intended. And if you have been keeping up with things, you would know, that many of these people that are now having problems, never had these problems before the Craglorn update/patch.

The fans of this game asked ZOS a year ago to remove AoE caps. They still haven't.

Game was less laggy AND much, MUCH more competitive before they added the stupid craps.
    *caps.

........Yeah but seriously if you are just starting out have a good look at what AoE caps are because, honestly? If you're like me you wont want to bother with the endgame PvP.

    I'm a PvPer. Not a zerger.
ZOS have a long way to come before I even consider resubbing.

If your group is bigger than 6 members gain 75% damage reduction.

Write this on the back of your box and see how many sales you get!

You won't get any new PvP players until this archaic AoE crap is fixed.
I for one won't resub until:
    1.) You fix lag.
2.) You remove AOE caps we voted against.
3.) 12 months have passed (this is how long we've waited for you to 'get with it')[/b]

I couldn't agree with you more. Since beta, my machine has been over clocked with water cooling and a new 970 GTX card installed and the game runs worse now than way back then. Everything about this issue is on @ZOS and not our machines or ISP's. When the whole raid says the game is lagging then it's server sided as they are all over the world on completely different ISP's. Lag that occurs at the EXACT same time for everyone is Server sided.

I really don't know which is worse with the current state of the game. The horrendous lag constantly plaguing PVP or the 10 minute roll backs in Orsinium. The only thing you can do is craft a few things and put it up for sale, all the while hoping that your game doesn't crash because of it's instability.
