Do the armors change their appearance with their level or with the improvement?

Hallo guys, I have two questions:
1. when I have an armor VR1, will it look differently If it will be from the same armor motif, but crafted as VR 16 armor?
2. does the armor appearance change when improving the armor (green, blue, purple, gold)?

IIRC styles change at level 16, 24, 32(?) and 44. All vet levels look the same tho.0 -
