i don't pay this game for a while, but now, i have some free time this weekend and i'd like to play a few hours. unfortunately i'm having a lot of trouble updating the game. somehow looks like i'm blocked on a 132KB/s download. i did a few tests on my line and everything seems to be ok, i even tested one random download on steam and i got a download above 2MB/s. so... whats wrong here?

i'm using the launcher from https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/ is this the best way? is there anywhere else where i can download the game? am i doing something wrong or may my ISP have limited my access to ESO?

i hope i can find some way to get the game :\

That happens to me sometimes. I have a 40Mb/s connection but only updates the game at 130KB/s. When I use Steam is a lot more faster.

in fact i wanted to move my game to steam, the main reason i stop play this was because i never found a way to move my game progression to steam. and now i have one more reason.

so, this limitation is intentionally caused by bethesda?

this is really weird, but at the same time a good scheme to avoid seasonal players like me.

When you have the game on Steam, the Steam only serves to launch the ESO launcher. What I was refering was that in other programs my downloading speed is faster.
What happens is that the ESO launcher sometimes is slow for me but I don't know why. There is times that I update the game with a downloading speed above 1/2Mb/s and others that I only get an 130 KB/s.

oh damn! but isn't there any other place to get the game?

like on torrents or something. anywhere else will be better that in the hideous ESO launcher.

this is unacceptable. i had better download times in 1999 :\

I don't know. Anyways if you get the game elsewhere you will end up using the launcher so it's all the same I'm afraid.

i know. but if i found out the files needed i believe that i would reduce the download to the minimum.

i just want the files to put inside the folder "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" and start playing.

it's ridiculous to find the game only in one server in one way that doesn't even work.

that's what they said to me on support. but i contacted my ISP and a "pc medic" call to help me configure the router for ESO, and they confirmed that there is no limitation of any kind to ESO from my ISP.

after that i tried 3 different routers and 3 different ISP connections - in all cases the download speed level up to reach 132KB/s and stop right there and never changes.

i believe that somehow bethesda set a limitation on my account on 132KB/s, because i remember that around june 2014 i was already limited to this download speed (one of the reasons i gave up after a few updates). now i was expecting to be able to play, but sounds like my account is still limited - the weird thing is that i always paid my bills and i don't owe anything to bethesda. i don't understand.

The game can only be downloaded from the ESO servers trough the setup program. And the download is slow for many of us. Probably to make it easier for many to downlaod at the same time.

The thing is that those downloads are not coming from ZOS or Bethesda servers, so it is unlikely that they would be the problem.

Unless they changed something, ZOS uses a cloud service provider for the game download, a big one.

Someone is throttling your internet, and it ain't ZOS. Who provides your internet?

this is my ISP http://www.nos.pt and my internet, at this moment, is running perfectly, really really fast, even using torrents. ESO is the only thing blocked. they keep saying that there are no limitation to ESO.

but, the launcher hides the origin of the downloads, so, i have no idea from where i'm downloading it.

anyway, most probably i'll quit ESO forever later today and i'll try to sell my account cheap.

there's no use for me to keep this thing that i never can use :\

i was really willing to return this weekend. i never expected to still find my account limited at this point :(

still 116KB/s - this is quite obvious that they are imposing limits.

it was 136KB/s for about 24h and then they changed it to 116KB/s.

Yeah, it is obvious that your connection to the download servers is being throttled. Last I checked, ZOS uses Akamai to host the download images and so there should be no throttling happening at the server side. They are expecting high download traffic and if they were throttling, everyone would be locked at 100k/s (approx). That is not the case. I get 3M/s, but possibly from a different Akamai server.

I maintain that it is most likely that your internet provider is throttling this, possibly based on traffic analysis.

but how can i change the server?

tonight i have to quit. i already left my computer downloading the game for 2 days and nothing changes, at this moment i'm still at 116KB/s.

the launcher is absolutely hideous. i have no way to change the server, no way to know what's happening, no way to configure anything it's like i'm downloading 60GB in 1997. this is extremely incompetent and as a paying user i feel cheated.

after more than 48h of download the launcher forced me to check the files and start downloading from the beginning at 116KB/s ... so, i'm again at the point that i still need 9 days to complete download the game, and most probably i'll never get access to the game again because they'll do the same again in 2 days. now, this is starting to look much more like a fraud than only an access limitation. maybe they are having bandwidth problems and this may be a scheme to keep some players away from the game.

at this point, i no longer want to try to play this game online again, and i'll never want to do an update to this game. i just need a solution to have some fun with the game offline.

is there any way to get ESO to play offline? some way to crack it and have fun alone on the game without ever need to be online and update the game? i loved to play alone the first two ES and skyrim, but i end up hating ESO only because it is online and that allows them to block some player.

i'm looking for the game files and some crack to play ESO alone!

Without knowing what IP address you are talking to in order to download the game, it is not possible to tell whether you are using the same or different source servers. Your physical location probably makes more of a difference than the megaserver you are wanting to use.

today i spent more than one hour on the phone with my provider. i explained all the problem and they really tried to help. they confirmed that they are not causing any limitation, they checked all my service the ports settings, they did a lot of test, and i also flushed the dns like the cheaters from zenimax requested. we tried all with 2 routers. and we never found any way to get higher speed than 116KB/s.

it's really hard to believe that this is not a zenimax scheme. anyway, if they don't want or can provide the game online, i really don't mind to get a single player access. it's fair!

i just found out that this is really a fraudulent server configuration to cheat players.

i moved the "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" directory with my download progression of the last 2 days, and i started a fresh download, and i was able to get a download speed of 132KB/s like 2 days ago, but when i restore back to place the directory "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" with the download progression of the last 2 days, i get limited again on 116KB/s.

so, looks like they are setting some accounts to start the downloads on 132KB/s gradually reducing so the player can't have access to the game, and the support keeps telling that it is an ISP problem. nice fraud!

it just happened again. i started a fresh download before i went to sleep, and it was stuck on 132KB/s, when i woke up it was still downloading at 132KB/s... but a few minutes ago i reached the point that zenimax reduces the download to 116KB/s and it was in fact reduced again.

i going to try to leave my computer on, just for a few more days, to see how far zenimax is going with this fraud.

they are not replying to my request of support and my search for an alternative way to download the game was censured in this forum. i have no idea why they have limited the download speed on my account to a point of no use, and they are not even trying to explain.

this game was very expensive, and i spent a lot more money on it beyond the price of the main game. i never cheated in the game, i never used mods or anything. i really can't understand why they did this to my account.

Just brainstorming here, do you have any antivirus enabled, or Microsoft Security Center/Malware scanner? If so you can exclude the entire Zos folder from the security checks, alternatively temporarily disable the software or the real time security/filter. Background operations such as software updates, Windows Update may at times impact an entire system's performance. However, you do get good throughput with other services...

I'm in Sweden, Europe, but play on the NA server. I have a 500Mb/s connection and the fastest I've managed to get is 150Mb/s (15MB/s), but recent downloads seems to have been limited to ~5MB/s. At times though, I also have far lower download speed. When this happens I pause the download and resume, checking if the speed bumps up higher, when it does I leave it as is.

Does your router have a DDoS filter function? I'm thinking that if packets for some reason get dropped and keep getting requested and sent back and forth, maybe that filter would cut in? (Again, I'm just brainstorming here...).

Apologies in advance if none of what I suggest has any relevance to your issue. =D

i opened the following ports on all my routers:

    TCP/UDP Ports 24100 through 24131
    TCP/UDP Ports 24300 through 24331
    TCP/UDP Ports 24500 through 24507
    TCP/UDP Port 80 and Port 443

    i flushed the DNS.
    uninstalled my antivirus.
    disabled the firewall.
    uninstalled and reinstalled the launcher.
tried to pause the download and resume many times.
applied different maximum download settings on launcher.
tried by wi-fi and directly connected to the PC disabling the wi-fi.
reported the problem to the ISPs.
tried to bypass my ISP using CyberGhost VPN.
contacted and searched for help on a "pc medic" call service.

i did all of that in both my desktop and laptop,
and i tried 3 different ISPs.

still... i'm always stuck to 116KB/s

i think that the only thing i missed it that DDoS filter function. i have no idea what that is :\

In my router's firewall settings there is an option for "ICMP Blocking", if you have that on your router's firewall settings page, try to temporarily disable that. (Set it back after testing).
