My game was working fine last night and suddenly today I get an Error 301 Message.

Ran as administrator, flushed DNS, repaired game, nothing is working.

What's going on here and what can I do to fix it?

I'm having the same issue, it only started happening now and then and it would eventually work. But now it's permanently giving me error 108 and 301.

I did login to my account via browser and accepted the new terms and conditions - also added exceptions on firewall and anti virus.

At this rate I'm going to lose out on the event.

Is there any fix to this?

For some reason I did not think of that! i disable it temporarily and it logged in straight away! ''AV''era''G''e security indeed.

FOLLOW UP: Logged in and passed the 301, but then it boots me out on character load....

I can confirm that disabling AVG works.

I am getting the 301 error as well. Also, once I get the error and click "ok", then click "quit", the application stops responding and I have to close it down from Task Manager.

I am not sure if this is on my end, or if it's on ESO's end, as this is the first time I have tried logging in on this PC. I copied my game files over from my old PC to this one, so maybe there is something wrong there. I ran the repair twice, but still am getting the 301 error.

I have AVG as well, and disabled it, but that didn't help. I may try uninstalling AVG to see if that does anything.

EDIT: I uninstalled AVG and that fixed it, so maybe it does have something to do with AVG.

I have the same problem and AVG. I have the paid version. @Syrani are you running the free AVG or subscription?
I tested to turn it off and still got the same problem with ESO not closing even with task manager.

I havnt uninstalled AVG though. Reeaaally dont want to do that.

I still have the same problem. Cant log into ESO.

Searching AVG firewall logs and see a lot of "new" blocks.
i updated AVG and rebooted. Still same problem and cant connect to ESO. AVG seams to block something. Not eso.exe or eso64.exe.

What can AVG firewall block so we cant reach the login server?

I still cant login and it seams AVG is preventing it somehow. Never had this problem until just now.
Any suggestions what to do? Other then uninstalling my PC protection?

I have a feeling what ever they did to stop the attacks on the EU server they did to the NA server as well, and its causing issues with AVG, i just disable mine until i restart my pc (pain in the butt mind you if i forget to deactivate it before log in again) no need to uninstall

    Still doesnt work for me.

AVG antispam module seams to block something when connecting to ESO login.

    I found a work around.

Disable AVG and windows firewall. Start ESO. When you are in game, tab out and activate AVG again.
    Seams to only block login.

This way you dont need to play unprotected.

I have tried disabling AVG and Windows Firewall, but still having the same issue (permanent 301 login error on EU).

At this point I'm desperate enough to uninstall AVG completely, and see if it works. Will do this after work and report back.

I was using the free version, if that makes any difference. I think I am gonna buy some other kind of antivirus or try to find another free one. AVG annoys me anyway with all their pop ups.

I just had a session with an AVG senior technician. He confirmed that the exceptions for ESO that I had made in AVG were correct and that the problem probably was in the AVG software. He will escalate the matter and AVG will get back to me as soon as they find a solution.

We've closed this thread as it's from 2015 and may have some outdated information. If you are getting Error 301 on PC, please go through the troubleshooting found in the link below.

Why do I get "Login Error: Error 301" when attempting to log in to the game?

If you still receive the error, you can start a new thread to discuss what you've tried so far.
